Aw, @#$%!
It looks like the end is nearer than we thought for Arrested Development, as per this CBC story. The 22-episode order has been cut back to 13 episodes. Combined with the recent ratings, that pretty much spells doom for the Bluths and, possibly, even a finale not intended as the finale.
Sigh.

That sucks a whole lot. AD is one of the very, very few shows I watch anymore. It's ridiculous that more people don't tune in - it's got that great clever-yet-stupid sensibility to it that makes stuff like Futurama so great. Oh, wait, the primates at FOX canceled that one, too.

Yeah the people at Fox have no clue whats going on. They originally canceled Family Guy too. Even though they brought that one back. Who will stop these monsters?

If it went to HBO, i would have to get HBO. I think it would compliment My Name is Earl pretty well, and lord knows NBC has to rebuild some of their sitcom status.
it's funny that Fox hasn't seen the parallels to Cheers and Seinfeld. Poorly rated show that gets huge critical acclaim, eventually becomes number one. how do you not give it a real chance? |

FOX has no idea what to do with comedy. The Simpsons is family-friendly (for the most part), so they just put it on early Sunday evening and everyone sits down to watch it. Then they do the same thing with Family Guy, Arrested Development, and any number of other biting, young-feeling shows, and act surprised when grandma and grandpa don't gather 'round to watch Gob sleep with his father's ex-mistress.
Man, that was a funny episode.

but wait...
the creator of the show was on NPRs "Fresh Air" and mentioned nothing about the show being cancelled. or even being cut back.
The latest I heard was that the reason Arrested Development was going to be held off was because Bateman was having surgery to remove a polyp on his throat. That halted production. (http://entertainment.tv.yahoo.com/en...090004000.html) Perhaps CBS is jumping the gun or not doing enough "fact finding" (wait, a news outlet not doing research? that's NEVER happened before)

Arrested Development was doing badly, and FOX still gave it a third season. No one watched it. It won Emmys and Golden Globes. No one watched it. They put it after The Simpsons. No one watched it.
FOX isn't to blame here, the people not watching it are. |
