Question Is my avatar manly enough for YABS?

All the popular people have manly avatars, and if the cool people do it, it must be right!

So have I given in to this piece of peer pressure correctly, or sould I find dome other way to emulate my peers? Smoking perhaps?

We have several male members that use female avatars. To be honest it is does freak me out when a person I'm conversing with is the opposite sex of what I was envisioning them to be. This isn’t a problem with you or Corrina because of your first names will let others know you are a male or conversely female. However If I'm honest when I discovered that Cam was a male, (back when he had a Black Canary avatar) I was a bit startled and for no discernable reason freaked out a bit. Your poll question is too awkwardly phrased to answer honestly so I’m going to vote that you should put on a dress and be done with it because I think it’s a funny image.

My avatar is as manly as I am, since it is me.

...

So it's not very manly, then.

So wearing a dress will make me a man?

Great! I'm off to Marks and Sparks to buy one right now!

It throws me alittle when I think I'm replying to a girl but I find out it's a guy and vice versa. I typically don't talk to men and the same way and sometimes I wish I had known the real gender of a poster because certain things I would or would've have said to them. But I look at the avatars and usually tend to think the poster is the same gender of the pic without really thinking about unless they use a male or female name.

It took me almost a year to realize people were assuming I was a guy. I still feel guilty (misleading) somehow. Although it's funny sometimes too.

Any man that can parade around shamelessly as a cute, little girl is obviously VERY secure in his manhood and therefore, manly. Mm, smell that testosterone. :D

That's not just any old cute, little girl. That's a Japanese cute, little girl!

Does that make me extra manly?

Unless stated otherwise, either by an obvious name or outright saying it, I always assume the poster is male. You have to assume something so that seems as good as anything plus, especially on forums like those of comic books and video games, it's true more often than not. If corrected I start using the terms "she" "her" and so forth with that poster. I'm not sure what I'll do if a poster tells me they're a male to female transsexual. :p

Only if you've actually seen all of the Azumanga Daioh TV show and/or manga/comic strips.
