Default Anyone think that Jason Todd coming back now is coincidence?

Judging what is happening in "Batman" and the rest of DCU, anybody think that Jason Todd's coming back while all this lead up to IC coincidental or DCU has something bigger planned for him?

Could we see a Nightwing or Tim Drake/Jason Todd feud if Bruce dies before Infinite Crisis and Jason attempts to take up the "Mantle of the Bat"?

What do you think we will find out in Batman #641 coming out Wednesday?

Even though it would be undone ASAP DC will never remove Bruce from the mantle of the bat again.

Oh come on, it can't be that bad. We haven't even been told the how of Jason coming back, so i will support one of the best writers to touch Batman since Rucka until i find the come back tale to be unworthy, which i don't think it will be.

As far as i know, winick has said in an interview that Jason coming back is not coincidental with IC, that in fact Jason coming back is part of the larger tale to be told. Obviously someone has made the Bruce Wayne/Jason todd connection and somehow brought Jason back to torture Bruce. Like Superman, i believe that one of Batman's weaknesses involves magic, simply because Bruce cannot put a science into magic so someone has taken advantage of this weakness and we have Jason Todd back, apparently, from the dead. Hmmm....only time will tell.

There won't be any Jason Todd/Tim Drake feud simply because Drake never knew Jason Todd. They don't have beef.

There would however be sparks between him and Dick Grayson, because Grayson is Bruce Wayne's adopted son. He has too much of connection with Batman, one that Todd never really got.

Jason Todd as Hush was cool and unexpected. The story was even better when you found out that it wasn't really Todd. Now the new Crimson Hood is Todd.

Been there, did that, it's lost it's punch now, it is just a gimmick.

Jason Todd has gotta tie into the Crisis. On top of all the facts, Batman #641 is listed in the Crisis Counselling section of DC's website, therefore it ties in.

That is correct; I remember reading the same thing.

For the record, I've quite enjoyed Winnick's run on Batman so far, in spite of some initial reservations about Jason returning. (I'll reserve final judgment on that until the entire story is told, but to date I'm satisfied.) Indeed, I think Winnick's Batman has been far superior to anything in any of the other three bat-books at the moment and is, in fact, the only one I'm still reading regularly.

well now we know that Hush and Jason Todd and Riddler were working together during the Hush arc, and during the Pushback arc in Gotham Knights Hush is apparently mad at Riddler for using a Lazarus Pit for some reason

I think we can expect Hush and Jason Todd to be teamed up in their war against Batman

I just don't understand why Hush and Jason don't wear their supercool Jim Lee suit that was in Hush

I'm just wondering if they'll ever be able to make the revelations in both the Gotham Knights Hush arcs and the recent Jason Todd arcs properly fit into the original one. It seems more along the lines of the creators of both spin-off stories somehow trying to shoe-horn their concepts into the original Hush arc than it being what Loeb originally intended.

Gosh, I certainly hope not; this would turn me against Jason's return real fast. Gotham Knights has made me strongly dislike the Hush character (who I never thought was all that special to begin with).

I agree. I hope that Hush and Jason are not teaming up.

That's not saying much when you look at the quality of the other Batbooks... it's like comparing the NHL's worst team with the SECOND worst team.

I'm enjoying the secondary Batbooks MUCh more like Batgirl, Birds of Prey and Gotham Central. I don't get Robin and I get Nightwing out of morbid curiousity anymore.

Is it possible the way that IC ties in with Jason's return is that someone (maybe the JLA for whatever reason) screwed with Batman's memories to think that Jason was dead instead of beaten into a coma? I got a feeling Jason's resurrection will not involve the Lazarus Pits at all but something amazingly simple, like he wasn't really dead in the first place.

Eh, I could be completely wrong, but I'm definately enjoying this storyline.

I'm currently in the middle of reading Grant Morrison's Animal Man for the first time.

The similarities are eerie. Especially in the way Jason Todd's unexplained return echoes the re-appearance of pre-crisis Animal Man.

Is it possible that DC are going to continue the story begun in Animal Man?
