I didn't go by the comic shop this week so haven't read #13 yet. But I hadn't seen it noted here before that the new artist (starting with #14) has been announced:
http://comicbookresources.com/news/newsitem.cgi?id=5021 ...so I thought I'd mention it. Di Bartolo's stuff looks good to me (especially that cover). It's a little jarring to change from an established look, but I think I'll adjust and enjoy it after his first issue or two. |

Hey fellas,
#13 is kind of a "setup" issue -- #14's going to be a big payoff, so hang in there! I'm glad 14's going to be Jim's debut, there's a lot of room for him to show off. In fact, there's going to be a lot more action for the remainder of the story -- your reward for follwing it so far. But there will still be a lot of mystery/history/religion too. Thanks for keeping up with our erratic publishing schedule, for which I humbly apologize. I have a good feeling we're going to be a lot more reliable from now on. Cybernetic she-ninjas with laser guns attack Paris in #13. Julien has to find the mysterious Moebius Stone in order to thwart their large-breasted invasion. Yeah!

hey... do you have an estimated release date for 14 yet?
and hey, no offense but you dropped the ball on that story you did in x-men unlimited. i was really hoping you'd really come through in your first crack working for one of the big two. i guess switching from a 36 issue story to a 12 page story can be kinda rough though. do you have any other side projects coming out?

Wasn't the second trade solicited for March? Did I miss this release? I don't recall seeing it on any shipping lists and it's not in any of my local stores, so I was just wondering if anyone else had received theirs, or if it had been delayed.

Apparently it's way overdue delayed by the printers.
Arid Nelson reports that he barely got the proofs for the TB late April. But looks like he did a fast turn-around, so it's back in the hands of the printers now. Don't know how long corrections/printing takes, but I think we'll see it ship this month...hopefully. |

Nice interview. I wouldn't say that Rex Mundi is inspired by the Davinci Code at all. They both
I'm rahter glad Rex Mundi left DaVinci pretty much alone. I am disgusted of how Brown and his book used the genius's work. As a long time fan of DaVinci since childhood, I get so angry when I hear how he's used in the book. I confres, I haven't head Brown's book, but at the same time I don't want to waste my time. I have many comics to read and I think many of those are better. Getting back to Holy Blood Holy Grail, I jsut heard today that Brown and his publisher is being sued by the authors of that book saying that he used their findings. At the sime time, I thought Brown listed their book as a reference he used in making the Code. If Brown did give credit to them in the back of his book, I sadly have to side with Brown on this one. Brown did add his own story to the suppodely historical findings of this nonfiction book. Personally I think Brown is rahter in teh clear as the Holy Blood book was rather known and others have used the findings and the ideas are out there, especially if Brown mentions it at the end of his book. I hate to side with Brown though, as I would much rather read the original historical book than the shoddy work of fiction based on it. Sadly most of the world does not feel the same and seem to eat up this shoody fiction. Also, didn't that The Name of the Rose touch on this too? Or was it Foucault's Pendulum by Umberto Eco? I only know of these books second hand and ahven't looked into it much. Now I ahve to wonder if Rex Mundi could possibly be in trouble too. Though maybe it's unfortunatley too small of a fish to fry in compraison to the bloated sea cow that is the DaVinci Code. -Xenos |

Rex Mundi predates The Da Vinci Code, so obviously, it cannot be "inspired" by it. I've said this before and I'll say it again (even told Arvid this in person at WizardWorld Chicago this year), Rex Mundi is the best comic on the stands right now.

Thanks Don! Gee.
My understanding is Foucault's Pendulum kind of deals with the Templars and stuff, but it doesn't get into the HBHG cannon of weirdness (never read it). In the Name of the Rose is pretty much just orthodox Christianity -- but it's a great book! |

I bought the preview issue (#0 I think) when it first came out, but then Rex Mundi fell off my radar for some reason. But recently, I've picked up the trades and I really enjoy them. They've put a lot of work into creating this alternate history and it's a cool story. Good book!
