Default Power Girl question

I was reading the new JLA, and in it, a bunch of them were in outer space. Superman, being Superman, didn't need any special breathing apparatus. Wonder Woman had some kind of oxygen mask over her mouth, Green Lantern had his force field, and Captain Marvel, since his powers come from magic, didn't need anything. Power Girl was there too and she didn't need an oxygen mask either. Does that mean she's stronger than Wonder Woman? I don't know anything about PG; I always thought Wondy was the strongest female hero.

Why do you think there's any connection at all between being able to go without oxygen for limited times and strength? I assume they're mutually exclusive powers. One has nothing to do with the other.

Besides, I have seen Superman, both in comics and in animated form, require an oxygen mask when venturing into outerspace. Presumably he could hold his breath for long time, but I never understood why he would be able to breath in space myself.

Maybe solar energy can sustain him?

Smile I believe now superman doesn't need to breath in space because the sunlight is

unfilted. It also makes him stronger and faster. power girls origin is up in the air again, no longer ancient atlanteian, and is vunerable to green K. With lois talking about wanting a baby, could power girl be? Naw!

When Power Girl was critically injured and had to undergo surgery, Doctors found in her bodies organs they didnīt even knew what were for.
Itīs very likely that her physiology(sp) doesnīt obey the same rules as other humans and known humanoids, hence, she may not need to breathe oxygen.

I believe the word youīre looking for would be Lungs.

Power Girlīs exceptional....... torax capacity allows her to hold her breath far longer than most metahumans.

LOL! Those big lungs are the very assets that made her more lasting and popular than Supergirl although both suffer the same fate of inconsistent origins :D

Superman used to require a breathing mask for space but he did some training with Mongul Jnr and since that time that requirement vanished.
No, didn't make any sense to me either but it's a comic book.

Yo.

IIRC, that training he did w/Mongul Jr. left him able to survive for far longer periods on a single intake of air; in that issue he comments that he was able to make it out to Jupiter w/a single breath whereas he wasnt able to do so before.

this was when they 1st encountered an Imperiex -probe, altho they didnt know it was only a probe then.

I think that they could make PG's orgin that she's the Supergirl from the Antimatter universe that the Crime Syndicate comes from. She, at some point over there, got huge implants because she was a superpowered stripper or something prior to an acident that sent her over to the DCU and erased her memory.
