(and an unlimited budget to make the image company)
1. I would have bought out Quesadas Event Comics and used Ash and characters in the event universe in the Image Universe. 2. I would have also Aquired the rights to Araknis (by the Ortiz Brothers) and Used them in Image. 3. I would buy out Chaos comics and add them in the Image Universe as well. 4. I would find Someway to aquire the rights to the Crow from James O Barr 5. I would also Buy out the rights to TMNT again. 6. Same for Zen the intergalactic Ninja. 7. I would find Some way to make an Ultimate version of these characters and others in an ultimate image universe. 8. The Potential for violence in all these books is really High. With that in mind I would retell all these stories in an R Rated format. 9. TMNT would be retold with the spirit of living in the ghetto. The turtles live in the Sewers. This book would be Hip Hop Savvy and will deal with real life teenage struggles in poor disenfranchised communities. I would personally write this book and get Scott MacDaniel to draw it. 10. The Crow. Rockstar on a mission for Revenge. I would have him introduced in an Ultimate Version of Spawn as a reoccuring Character. I would try my damndest to keep him from losing his novelty. I'd have Miller right all of this and Cappullo draw it. Same with Araknis a reoccuring Character in Spawn too. 11. Find a way to make savage draon fit in all this. 12. Try to Get hellboy amnd the BPRD in this Ultimate Image Universe too..

too bad Image Comics doesn't work that way huh...
Image makes no profit from the books they publish, if any it is minimal. Image as a company has one asset, the Image i symbol used on the covers of the book. The benefit in working with Image to get your book published is a spot in Previews with a full colour ad and the recognizability of the Image logo. Otherwise Image is a non profit organization. Id buy out Chaos comic characters and make Lady Death the flagship comic for the company.
When Joss Whedon's contract to Marvel runs out I would try to convince him to do a Buffy/Lady Death crossover. |

Well it's a good thing you don't have your way with Image. First you should at least have some idea how Image the company accualy works.

I have an idea of how it works pal. My issue with image is that I want certain characters to hang out with each other and breath new life to the image universe. Granted Indie heads don't want to mix and match and just kinda wanna do there own thing so the best thing that I could do instead is if I rephrase my inital statement and say.... If I had an Ulitmate Line within the Image Company and an "unlimited budget" it would look something like this....yada yada yada... And this is my reasons why.. 1. I wanna make an Image universe with continuity. Characters that can feel the ramifications of actions in other books. Like say Spawn Villains vs the Crow. 2. I wanna be the guy that can bring in Marvel and DC fans to appreciate great Indie Characters in a univerese where they have the potential to see each other in a regular basis. For example Hellboy and and the Crow having to deal with Spawn and Spawns rogue gallery. 3. I wanna retell some of these great characters orgin stroies in a way so that new readers can relate and get people to hop on board so they aren't lost in the Sauce. Like The Ultimate line in Marvel. 4. I understand that in the real world the likelihood of any of this crap will never happen and hence I put unlimited budget. Im pretty sure with the right price everyone can agree to something. 5. I wanna treat the Image characters with the respect, passion, and enthusiasm, that would make the original creators of these great characters happy. I want these charcters to evolve in a singular Image Universe as time goes on. 6. I understand that some creators get tired of certain projects and wanna move on but can't because of fans or whatever. Under my watch I would find the right talent to work on certain characters and books so that fans can be happy and creators can take a break. I'm not saying that I don't like the way Image is run. It really is good for creators and whatever but I feel (and its prolly just me) that image would be much cooler if it had something like this. Im a dreamer and I always imagined what if...

Image has the perfect Universe right now, with some of the most dynamic characters in comics with in it right now.
Savage Dragon Invincible Capes Brit Noble Causes Tech Jacket Firbreather Wildguard Jack Staff and many many others.... They don't need losers like Ash hangging around "Topcowing" up the place. The TMNTs are perfect right where they are with Peter Larid at Mirage Studios, TMNTs series 4 is the best Turtles have ever been IMO. Zen might be cool. But again this all comes down to, Image Doesn't own ANY characters or properties at ALL. None, nada, the Creators of those properties owns them, they just publish through Image. Now a company seperate that purchessed all those characters then published a line of comics based on it through Image might be doable. I just wouldn't read it. |

actually, mignola said in an interview [in Comic Book Artist magazine] "Art Adams and I were going to do this thing. Image was discussed. Well, we were more comfortable with Dark Horse." personally, i like HB where he is.
some of the other books mentioned; Zen, TMNT (this one has been done at Image before, by Larsen if i'm not mistaken) and The Crow (this one has been done with TMP) wouldn't benefit from an ultimate verse treatment... they were created perfectly. i wouldn't mind seeing these books published through Image though. maybe O'Barr and the other creators could get together, create their own studio and bring their stuff to Image as a collective force. i'm sure it would make a big splash.

(This is a good thing, too. Avatar have far more in common with old Chaos than CrossGen, or even Top Cow, ever did.)

Thats fine but I guess I forgot to mention that I wouldn't stop whatever everybody else was already doing to their books. Like The way the ultimate line is doing now. And I never said that Image books weren't fine the way they were now. I'd just start an Ultimate Image line with my dream line up. Top Cowing it? I don't know what you mean by that but If it were up to me I'd be Marvelizing the Image and my fantasy line up including ASH. I wouldn't pull stupid gimmicks either. No variants no special directors cut covers. Just straight good reads. Stories and art with great characters and continuity good enough to turn heads.

you're right about TMPs treatment of The Crow... i don't remember reading about any real push for the book.
i understand the desire for a little "ultimate" treatment on those books, i guess i'd just rather see those books start with a new arc and maybe some recapping of what's gone before. i seriously think it would be cool if those creators got together and started a studio they could bring over to image or another like-minded publisher. i have no desire to see those books handled by anyone other than the original creative teams though. great topic.

I'm glad you're not in charge.
Few of the characters on your list interest me in any way. I'd rather see new, cool characters added to the line up than a tangle of guys that don't seem to get people very excited (when has ZEN done anything other than suck?). But that's me.
