Default The Son of Satan, Prince of Lies, Hellstorm Appreciation

This is my first post here after lurking for so long so I decided to do a thread on Daimon Hellstrom, aka Hellstorm, aka The Son of Satan, aka The Prince of Lies

I recently read the appearance of Hellstorm in the New Avengers and it made me pull out my old series of Hellstorm:PoL from the 90's. I originally only bought the first issue because of the parchment cover (best gimmick cover of all time) and although I wasn't a big fan of the art at the time I have come to appreciate it more. I really like Michael Bair's depiction of Hellstorm

Over the years, long after I had packed away my Hellstorm comics, I started reading Hellblazer. After re-reading issue 2 of Hellstorm I was pleasantly amused by the reference to John Constatine. Dr.Strange questions Daimon about smoking and he replies about a Brit he knows in a similar line of work who has a problem with smoking and almost died because of it.

I realise he is starting to pop up again in a few titles, Marvel Divas and Marvel Zombies, but I would so love to see another ongoing Hellstorm series. Warren Ellis was really doing something good with the Prince of Lies book before it got cancelled. If not an ongoing then maybe a 6-12 issue series.

I read the Max series a couple of years ago and while good, it just didn't feel right. I think I was expecting something more. I don't know if I would want another Hellstorm Max series. I don't think the character needs to be that dark to be included in a Max series.

What does everyone else think? Is there enough of a Hellstorm fanbase to warrant another series, be it ongoing or limited?
Maybe a new Midnight Sons book with Morbius, Night Stalkers and Ghost Rider? I always thought Hellstorm could have fit into the Rise of the Midnight Sons story from the 90's.

Are there any plans fpr Hellstorm to appear in the new Strange and Voodoo books?

Hellstrom can be a very cool character.

He's been used in a few places, so I definately think there's hope someone will pick him up.

I'd like for someone to give Midnight Sons another shot, that would be cool.

As long as he don't see the Last Defenders version... the spandex wearing Hellstrom doesn't work for me anymore. He's evolved past that.

You do know that Hellstorm has been showing up in a big way in Jason Aaron's Ghost Rider run at the moment *Ghost Riders: Heaven's on Fire" right? The run has been fantastic and he's finishing it up soon. (Ghost Rider 2006 #20-35 and GRHoF Limited series).

I personally never followed the character back then, but I definately remember seeing him float around the Marvel Universe. That new GR series peaked my interest.

No I didn't know he was in the new GR series. I haven't finished reading the last volume yet. It is funny because Jason Aaron was who I thought would be a good person to write Hellstorm. I will be definitely be checking it out

I will also be checking out this series. It is good to see Hellstorm is starting to make more appearances. Maybe there is a chance for another solo title

I'd be down for it. I haven't read anything of the character until recently with Marvel Divas, Ghost Rider, Marvel Zombies, and New Avengers. I've liked him in all of them, definitely love to read more of him.

The Hellstorm: Prince of Lies was pretty good and got way better during Ellis' run. He was a bit more smug then than he seems to come across now but that could just be my interpretation

And I agree with XPac, no Defenders-spandex-wearing Hellstorm. I wouldn't even be a fan if that is how he still looked :)

I think the version that showed up in NA was really interesting. That I'd read. The references from the Hellcat/Divas series make him sound really douche-y, and uninteresting, and like a previous poster, don't even get me started on the one from the Last Defenders series. But that series in general was pretty low on the enjoyability.

The cassock from MZ4 is pretty much the most awesome costume yet. I would love to see Ellis have another go at the character, or Jason Aaron who has repeatedly stated his affection for Hellstrom.

I find it funny how different he looks in each book I've seen him in in the span of 3-4 months.
