These nods to earlier Mignola stories through Duncan's artwork is a pay off the likes of which I'd never anticipated- either my enjoyment of them or their appearance. Can this story get any better!? Wait, don't answer that. I want to anticipate every gorgeous page of it.

Edit: And who knew Alice was going to grow up to be such a stunner?! Great rendition, Duncan.

I love how the current Hellboy and BPRD miniseries are finally starting to delve into the past. They make the previous chapters seem more significant and exciting, while still bringing new mysteries of their own. This preview just reinforces that.

I'm just in awe and speechless of what Mignola and the whole team have done and continue to do.

Is it weird that these books make me feel proud when I read them? No matter how much I grow, no matter how much older I get, this world that is evolving so wonderfully seems to be keeping direct pace with my interests and tastes. If it wasn't for Eric Powell, Mike would be the only one keeping me interested.

I raise my glass to Dark Horse!

And I think that cover is the most gorgeous thing I've seen in a very long time.

So Alice just naturally became attuned with the fairies...kinda bittersweet since she was supposed to birth more of their race.

And yeah, she´s quite a looker.

You would imagine that due to the nature of how they snatched her from her family's embrace she wouldn't be as apt to side with them in such favor. I suppose as the story unfolds we'll learn more about this, but I find that aspect interesting and somewhat admittedly perplexing.

Yeah i agree, i guess she took pity for them because of the very reason they kidnapped her in the first place....to prolong the survival of their race. Alice seems good, simple, caring person from her conversation with Hellboy. I´m sure she accepted the fairies interest in her as soon as she got to know them better and it looks she´s respected in some level since as she was right in the front line during the fairy king´s funeral.

In a lot of traditions the fairies treat children really well, loving them as their own mothers would and making a fuss of them, so i can understand why Alice would bear them no ill feeling.

Also it's the thing of, once you have seen this other magical world, how do you go back to the old mundane one and be content?

Hell [by it's action] is now directly involved in this war, how long before the hosts of Heaven let fly ??..Their silence to this point in time is deafening...

I feel your pain. I've been dying to know more about "Heaven" since the first glimpse of those aliens in Seed of Destruction. Maybe we'll be seeing some sort of benevolent Goddess in the Wild Hunt. (I'm thinking about the little bird's "Mistress.")

I thought the bird's "Mistress" could be the Troll Witch, given that the flower which renders Hellboy invisible to the giants looks like the type of flower the witch was growing. The Troll witch also has a history parrallel to Hellboy's, in which she was very much loved by her human family, identifies with them, and fought against others of her own kind.
