Default BRITAIN PREVAILS - Captain Britain & MI13 Appreciation

Because YOU demanded it (Well, at least three of you anyway) this is the Captain Britain & MI13 appreciation thread - a catch all discussion thread for fans of Captain Britain & MI13, its characters, and pretty much anything else associated with the series.

Now that the ongoing series is over it seems a bit daft to keep on expecting people to post to old issue threads, sales threads and so on. There was even a Captain Britain 'Sword and Amulet' discussion started recently, which probably could have been added here.

The book may be gone, for now, but it certainly is not forgotten.

So to bastardise a certain monarchic tradition...

Captain Britain & MI13 is dead - LONG LIVE CAPTAIN BRITAIN & MI13!

Enjoy!

I personally live in hope that Marvel may yet consider bringing the series back as a limited series at some point. Having seen the possible extended cast members we did ion recent issues, I would love to see them getting more of a proper outing.

I sure hope so. The all-too brief return of Marvel UK(in spirit at least) left me salivating for more. This series was awesome on so many levels. I just wish it would have gone for another ten or twenty years.

With Marvel Man on the horizen, I wouldn't doubt at all that this corner of the MU wouldn't at least be re-explored.

Long live Captain Britian...it may be too late to save the on-going series, but MI13 will be one of my favorites for the foreseeable future.

The first month in 15 that there is no Cap Wednesday. Not Good. As much as I like going over the past issues, it is just not the same. Hopefully, the MI13 group will show up somewhere (Mighty Avengers?) soon.

Thanks Sword for keeping things going.

Good point. However, will Marvel Man be any good without Alan Moore?

I just re-read the entire series.

And, my god, it just made me pissed off again at the fact that it's been cancelled.

DDDDDDDD:

LONG LIVE CAPTAIN BRITAIN.

So I was thinking Digitech? Was he really that popular? I can't remember buying any of his stuff in the 90's The main 90's UK books for me were Darkangel, Death's head 1 and 2, Warheads and Motormouth and Killpower. Black Axe and a few others being throwin in. But Digitech?

On a cap note I for one don't really like Meggans new look any one else dislike it or like it?

I've never read any Marvel Man to be honest... but if they can get Neil Gaiman on board, I'd certainly think the book had a chance of really being quality (though I haven't read Gaiman's book either).

Great thread idea!

I know I can't wait to get my entire stack of MI: 13 signed by Kirk. Maybe get him to sketch something?

You and me both. If only there were some kind of way that Marvel could broker a deal with Panini to do some more in-continuity MI13 stories. To build more of a fan base in the UK, without the US market expectations. They could even reprint the stories through Marvel Digital Comics.

That really depends...

If we get Marvelman coming to Earth 616, yes. But I think the long-term goal is to finish his own story, which was not part of the Marvel Universe.

That would be ideal. And a lot of fun. I'm really enjoying Might Avengers right now.

Digitech only ran for four issue. It was a limited series, and reprinted in Overkill too. But It was entirely painted artwork. That's not cheap. I think that was probably the reason it didn't continue, at the time. A very solid concept though. And there was something very cool about a guy who transported his digital form down phone lines, a good 8 years before The Matrix.

I like it. Don't get me wrong, the Davis costume is iconic, but it was way overdue an update.

Looking forward to a revival in short order. Preferably with Cornell and Kirk kept on, please?

(For that matter, an Alpha Flight revival written by Ty Templeton, Paul Quarrington, Paul Gross or Rick Mercer wouldn't be amiss either, as long as we're on the subject of national teams. But that's a topic for a separate thread.)

I'm sure the idea is to finish the existing story, especially if Gaiman is on board.

That said, I can't imagine the MU not at least trying to do something with Marvel Man down the line even if it does exist in it's own reality.

And given that a lot of the old Marvel UK stuff did feature reality hopping (and even a version of MM apparently), I think it's at good potential place to tie the universe together in some kind of non permanent way.

I've been waiting for this thread to appear.

I agree that CB&MI:13 needs to be revived in some way and I hope Dan Slott wasn't just brainstorming when he mentioned he'd like to set an issue of Mighty Avengers in the UK because he liked the book so much.
