Default Punisher Appreciation and Discussion

This is long overdue IMO. Here we can talk about the Meaniest, nastiest and greatest Vigilante that ever graced the pages of Marvel comics with his preseance: The Punisher.

Here you can talk Punisher be it Ennis', Dixon's, Fraction's, Remember's, Bradstreet's, Dillon's, Romita's, Jane's, Stevenson's etc. Or guest appeareances, Hell, even DC's Vigilante who is pretty much Punisher in the DCU.

Anyway, 6 Hours to kill ended this week. It was a great Storyarc for the Post Ennis Punisher MAX. Loved the story and loved the execution, specially how every issue was an hour. The art in the first issue was very stiff, but it got better and better after each issue. My only problem with both would be that it had way to many subplots and most of the young male characters looked almost identical, which made it very hard to follow in some places.

I do miss Bradstreet's covers...

Not up on Punisher since the Ennis Max Punisher series But I am a fan.

I do wish Marvel will collect all the Punisher War Journal tech Guide by Elliot Brown.

You should try the current 616 series. It's been pretty good so far, It's effectively shutting up all those who said that Frank could never work in the 616.

Damn right it is.

Who ever thought that seeing Frank in an Ant-Man helmet would be so AWESOME?

I've never been a huge fan of Frank C., but I love the new series. I like it because it takes this non-superhuman vigilante and gives him the tools to take on superhumans. Given his known tactics, motives, and a new partner, it's plausible that he can take on the big baddies of the MU now.

The artwork is ace and the writing is perfect; Opena & Remender are a winning combo, not to mention the other talent involved on the book.

In agreement with the posts above, once I saw Frank in the Ant-Man helmet, as cheesy as it could be, you know it's going to come in handy when Punny kicks some butt--particularly the Hood's.

Speaking of Suicide kings, another good story, great Punisher fight, with a really great use of all the Toys Rick Remember gave him. I can't wait for part 3, Just for another Round on the Punisher V. Daredevil fight with Deadpool in the middle.

More Pics.

I miss Chuck Dixon's Punisher. By far my favorite among the Punisher writers. Although Kurt Busiek's What IF #26 (What If the Punisher Killed Daredevil) might be my favorite Punisher story.

Am I the only one who misses Micro? As Frank's Sidekick not his enemy. Watching War Zone, made me realise how much I missed him in the stories. Fraction and Remember's Replacements haven't done it for me, they miss that spunk that Micro had. And even now that he is back, their is no chance in hell that is going to go back to those days.

Did Mike Zeck do other Punisher than Circle of Blood ? His Punisher looks awesome.

I have been spoiled by Ennis. Post Ennis Max Punisher doesnt work for me. Duane arc was promising but the art in the first issue wasnt so good.

Im reading Circle of Blood now and its great to read an old good Punisher story. 616 or not Punisher works perfectly when you write as hard, dark as this old mini does.

How cant marvel collect old stories ? My LCS say they dont have any collection of the 80s,90s Punisher. I specially want to read Dixon/Romita jr stories.

No, to bad though, I think that his styke fits Dixon's stories better than John Romita Jr's. Not that I didn't liked JRJ's style, or that it didn't fit with Dixon's run, just that Zech would have fitted better.

I know what you mean, but it got a lot better as the story moved on. What I liked about this story is that if you pay attention to the Time Captions, you get this 24 real time feeling, every issue filling for an hour.

I think I saw Dixon's/Romita's Punisher War Zone vol 1 is in Amazon.

The man is my favorite comic character, I'm glad he's getting more love in the main Marvel continuity.
