Seeing as these forums are composed of the finest comic fans around, I figured this might be a good place to post about a competition.
I'm writing a superhero novel with the working title of New Gods, and to avoid the very real possibility of the almighty Jack Kirby descending from above and smiting me for my insolence, I need to come up with a new book title. The book title is also the name of the 7-member superhero league I've created. The book is nothing to do with Marvel or DC or anything, it's entirely original. Hence the need to ditch the 'New Gods' tag. Anyway, I thought it would be fun if I could get some ideas rolling for a title, so I've made up a little competition. Come up with a name, and if it gets chosen, you get full credit and a dedication, and your name will be used for a character that gets brutally, gruesomely, and maybe bizzarely, killed by the main bad guy in the book. Details at my blog, which is http://www.adamchristopher.co.uk. Remember, it's just a bit of fun, but your help and ideas are appreciated! Post your suggestions in the comments. Cheers everyone! You could call the book the Devil's Keeper.
Or God Complex.

"Orvieto's Facade"
The idea being, the sculpture Lorenzo Orvieto saw the birth of these new gods in 1310 and hid them amongst the traditional Christian saints depicted in his sculptures, and only later was his work understood to be prophetic. This could be a hidden backstory, with only glimpses of the facade seen after the real events took place. Sorry if I'm writing too much of your story for you. I don't mean to intrude. |

It's the working title for my own setting and comic book line I've been working on for months now rather than one of the individuals comics in it but they all use Patheon as part of the title. So good title but best to avoid it. :) Posted this preview sketch a couple months back: http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k3...e1sketch07.jpg Pantheon: Godsend Patheon: Messiah protocol Patheon: Bloodline Pantheon: Genesis Pantheon: Second Coming All titles of my stories. Hate to get proprietory about it but it'd really tick me off if someone ran off with it.

http://www.lonestarpress.com/pantheon.html So, back to the original post, how about "The Magnificents"? Kind of a play on "The Magnificent 7". Or "The Seven Wonders". Having 7 in your group opens up a few of these references. Deadly sins, colors in the rainbow, continents. |

Gauds.
A play on words, maybe? Might be that Tony hates them so much that he intentionally mispronounces 'Gods' to sound more like 'Gaudy'. Superheroes can be just that quite often, after all.
