To start, I used to complain (a lot) that marvel had no "Powerful" African American Male characters. When I heard about this mini and the type of character that would be introduced, I was immediately interested in learning more.
When I read that the Character was the childhood imagining of Kevin Grevioux, I was fascinated. I started writing and drawing because I loved SUPER heroes, and wanted to see one that looked like me. Was this my dream had come true. With times changing could this be the Super Hero I've been waiting for? Speculation and anticipation ran their course last month with the close of the mini. Afterwords, I can say that Adam, is without a doubt, my favorite SUPER hero. I think Kevin Grevioux did an excellent job introducing us to this character. In the past (when arguing for the existence of an UBSH) I often said that the Sentry should have been black. My position being: if you removed the void (or downplayed him at least), and made the Sentry black, the reason that everybody had to forget him would have more since. Especially given the time frame they're trying to shoehorn him into. Without him HAVING to be crazy, this could have opened some other story possibilities and then they could have still played the crazy card down the road. That said, the Blue Marvel's introduction was done differently which gives the character room to grow IMO. What would you all like to see next from the Blue Marvel? Who should he Fight? Should he show up in DR? Do his Kids have Powers?

The Blue Marvel needs to start appearing in more books immediately. I'd love to see him in New Avengers, Dark Avengers, Mighty Avengers, Thor, Nova, and Guardians of the Galaxy. I could probably think of more, but those are the ones I came up with right off the bat. He's awesome.

I think they will keep him on the sideline until Dark reign is over.

I'd rather Blue Marvel be slowly introduced to the MU than be forced in. 'Cause if he's forced, there will eventually be a push back. |

I love the Blue Marvel (My favorite new character right after Patriot and before Skaar) and the mini was great Kevin G did a bang up job.
I certainly want to see him show up for Dark Reign. Ideally in a scene with President Barrak Obama where he get the EO JFK put on him lifted. The books I'd like to see him in now are; War Machinne, Fantasic four (which would give me a reason to pick it up), and Hulk. BM has ton of potential that for sure and where ever he shows up im there.

Guardians of the Galaxy could use a BIG hitter.

Unless they depower him a bit, I think they should just stick him in space.
Have him hang out with the Guadians of the Galaxy or something. |

Haven't read it but am curious if you can help differentiate him from Sentry for me, crazy powerful, forced to disappear from the limelight just from what I've heard it seems very similar.
Can you tell me what makes him unique am considering getting back issues to read him but need some convincing.

Second, he was shunned because of the colour of his skin. Third, he seems to potentially have more strength than The Sentry, but potentially less energy manipulation abilities. This is unclear as Marvel hasnt exactly pinned down what either of them can do.

He's a Superman archtype, sure, but he's more in line with the classic Class-100 ton guys like Thor, Hercules, etc. This was stated by his creator outright, so those who argue the point need a good smacking ;) While he does draw in some ways from the Superman archtype, he's not overly dependant on it. Instead, his character drama comes from a far more Marvel place, that being the role of his power in shaping humanity. Whereas Sentry is a wackjob Silver Age Superman, a supposed logical extension of what would happen to Superman with his powers, Blue Marvel is a Superman archtype smart enough to avoid becoming say, the Kingdom Come Superman. In short, he's a rare character who acknowledges the potential impact his power can have on society but is smart enough to recognize that he has little moral right to make such decisions. As for forgotten, he's just forgotten in the way Irene Morgan and Sarah Keys are forgotten (look it up). Good character IMO, and I hope someone besides Bendis and Kevin G pick him up (only because to be a success, Blue Marvel shouldn't only be Kevin G's character. I'd read more stories written by him, no doubt). |
