Default Obama meets the Hardys

Yes, President Barack Obama will appear in yet another comic book. This time the President will appear along side Frank and Joe Hardy in The Hardy Boys Graphic Novel #16 SHHHHHH! by Scott Lobdell, writer, and Paulo Henrique, artist.

Joe and Frank find themselves on the strangest bodyguard duty ever — protecting the five children of a visiting dignitary during a field trip to the National Library of Education in Washington, D.C. It might sound easy, but before this assignment is done, they’re going to need help from the most unexpected ally of all...their mom, librarian Laura Hardy!

5 x 71/2, 96 pages, full-color, Paperback: $7.95
ISBN: 978-1-59707-113-0
Also in collector’s hardcover: $12.95,
ISBN: 978-1-59707-114-7

I voted for the guy and even I have to admit this Obama comic stuff has to stop. It's terrible. I know people that bought the Spider-Man Obama variant to "celebrate" his victory. How about instead you...I don't know, contribute to society by doing some community service that he asks of you?

I guess we still haven't gotten over the idea that this nation is built on community and not consumption of crap.

It was cool at first, but, I agree, it's a bit over the top, now. Although I am looking forward to this, since I don't regularly buy the other comics he's appeared in but I've been buying the HB series, since day one.

Lobdell is also a stand up comedian, so it would be safe to assume he tosses in jokes when it comes to his comic book work.

Yeah...seems like more people know about the Hardys Boyz, then the Hardy Boys.

I might be one of the few who thought it was too voer the top from the beginning.

I've seen other people say that this is "going overboard," but I don't get it. Sure, it's a gimmick but, as comic-book gimmicks go, this is nothing.

People are like "Stop with all of these covers!" but, c'mon, how many have their really been? He's been on the cover of Spider-Man, which was the biggest one. Besides that he's been on the cover of Youngblood, and two issues of Savage Dragon. That's one Marvel comic, and 3 independents. Then he's appeared in 2 issues of Thunderbolts, not exactly the highest-profile series on the stands (& he wasn't even on the covers or explicitly named in the books) and now the Hardy Boys (which I didn't even know existed until now).

Compare that to the Zombie variant covers, and overall story trend, of recent years, it's not even close. And we're still a far cry from the holographic cover gimmick of the mid-90's.

Even as far as appearances go, Pres. George W Bush still has more actual appearances in comics, & so does Pres. Clinton.

Good points.

So, it seems like no one else has read The Hardy Boys Graphic Novels? I'd highly recommend them for kids. Good for all ages. The Nancy Drew line, too.
