Default BND: Haters to fans

Just wondering: How many of you fellow Spider-Man readers anti BND began to like the ongoing stories?

Actually the return of older, better villains only emphasizes how weak BND has been.

Agreed, although I do like Mr. Negative.

I just don't find most of stuff before NWTD all that appealing to me for various reasons but NWTD has a few things going for it that I like.

I'll check out NWTD in the trades, and maybe afterwards (If I like it.) I'll check on the regular series. But I want the story front to back first so I can enjoy the story without interruption.
Still think the reboot was wrong. However, if it is indeed leading up to a major event down the road, that may cause me to revise my opinion.

I had planned to start reading again at New Ways To Die, and if it was good enough, to hunt down trades\back issues of the rest of the series from the beginning of BND. Thus far it has been, and I may.

OK, so I succumbed to all the NWTD hype in this forum and picked up parts 1 - 3 at the weekend (I'm weak, I know). I have to say though, that this is the best Spidey I've read since before OMD happened.

I'm glad to see that they've done away with all the ridiculously retro Editor's captions and most surprisingly, when I was reading the book, there wasn't really anything about the BND status quo that induced vein popping rage in me, like it did in the early BND issues.

So, in essence, I'm liking ASM again at the moment and will definitely be buying it until the NWTD story arc is over and then we'll have to see. If it stays this good, I’ll probably be back on board permanently. Although I still have major issues with what happened in OMD and how it's effected the Spider-Man universe.

Welcome aboard!! Your "pledge" is more than fair; hang around and hopefully you will like what you/we see after NWTD.

Huh... I rather liked those... especially when they pointed out an older story.

I use to use them as a way to collect referenced stories years ago.... you know... "See Captain Awesome #21 for the Invaders Team-Up - Dashing Don" type of thing. Then I would go out and track down Captain Awesome #21.

Not to piss on the opinions of BND fans, but I picked up the first three issues of BND and kind of enjoyed them, but the fact that the wedding was erased just kept bugging me. I couldn't do it. So, I stopped following BND, and no longer read about the exploits of the formerly Amazing Spider-Man.

Wrong, the new villains were great, the old villains, people need to take them off the worship pedastals.

They're on those pedestal's because they rock. Only Mr. Negative has any long lasting appeal from the BND villains. Menace,Freak, Lady Kraven, the Deity, are all just rehashed ideas of older villains who won't exactly go down as classics.

Oh sure, don't get me wrong, I'm all in favour of Editor's caption boxes pointing out exactly which issue such-and-such an event happened in. What I didn't like about the BND ones were that they were done in such a self-conciously 70's style with heaps of so-called Editor humour....only they weren't funny. Just terribly annoying.

I simply don't care enough about the character anymore to give it a go. But apart from that, it's a Venom story. I've never read a Venom story before that I even slightly liked, so it's unlikely that I'd like this even if he were still married and written by JMS.
