Default CABLE & DEADPOOL #49 -- Summary & Spoilers!

"Wait, I can't hear my own voice! Am I even talking?! My gift to the world! Gone! And it's your fault, you golden-haired, well-toned, gorgeous jungle god jerk!"

The issue opens with Deadpool and Agent X battling over their financial situations. Irene Merryweather interrupts them and hires Deadpool to travel to the Savage Land and find some doo-hickey that Magneto used to use. Apparently, they tried to contact Ka-Zar but he was not to be found. Deadpool agrees to take the job (cute scene between him and a very depressed Irene), and Weasel uses his suit to teleport them to the Savage Land.

They're immediately attacked by a tyrannosaurus rex. Suddenly, a sabretooth tiger pounces on it and kills it (wtf?!). Weasel mentions how Ka-Zar lived his life there yet they're going to die within five minutes. The tiger, obviously Zabu, perks up at the sound of his master's name. Zabu points at Magneto's old citadel, and Deadpool immediately rushes toward it and kicks the door down. Inside is Ka-Zar, with Lorelei and Piper behind him. Ka-Zar tries to kill Deadpool and stabs him in the head with his dagger. He is under Lorelei's spell, and Piper uses his flute to control Zabu, who attacks Bob and Weasel. In a different room, Brainchild schemes with Shanna chained up next to him.

Deadpool wakes up and attacks Ka-Zar again (while Bob sings along with Lorelei, LOL). He tosses him at Lorelei and Piper, which snaps him out of his confusion. He covers Lorelei's mouth so she is unable to sing, but Piper has Zabu attack him and the pair retreat. The group decides to find the polarity engine by splitting up. Brainchild has Barbarus and Amphibius attack Ka-Zar and Zabu, a bunch of dinosaurs surround Bob and Weasel, and tries to find Deadpool on the computers but realizes he's in the sewage pipes (his reasoning is, if Super Mario can do it... LAWL). Bob clutches on to Weasel, who teleports to Deadpool. Weasel searches Brainchild's computer and finds his collection of... um... special files (apparently involving a stegasaurus).

Deadpool goes outside to find a swarm of dinosaurs, Brainchild, Piper, and Shanna. Deadpool manages to teleport the dinosaurs away, but Brainchild is still cocky. Unfortunately, Ka-Zar has freed Shanna and they have Piper. Lorelei suddenly appears on a pterodactyl, allowing Brainchild and Piper some escape. They fly away, but Deadpool shoots their pterodactyl, sending them flying into some growling t-rexes (LOL WHAT? Hopefully Piper's powers will get them out of that jam). Deadpool begins to annoy Ka-Zar, and Weasel realizes Deadpool teleported the huge mass of dinosaurs that Piper summoned... into Manhattan. Cue Ms. Marvel and Thing cameos.

I'm really going to miss this series. I know I say that every month now, but I mean it every month. From the Zabu Lassie moment, Brain child's stash, Deadpool the wannabe Italian plumber, helping eastern european kids worshiping a benevolent god, and venom dinosaurs, this issue had me laughing my ass off.

If thats true, my apologies to Brown.

I'm so used to kissing Fabian's ass when he's pulling from the Deadpool goldmine that it's kind of a hard habit to break.

I'm going to miss this book so much. It's the only funny book I find consistently.... funny.

"... since Cable died"
"He'll be back. Probably once they have a big crossover."

"And teach their children. And worship a benevolent God."

And after shooting the dinosaur to prevent the bad guys from escaping: "You should really try using some guns"

Wherever you go next Fabian I'll be there!

And on a sidenote, if Way ditches Weasel and Bob, may god have mercy on his soul.

Lorelei: "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO..."

That's... that's what a hypnotic song sounds like... I always thought there would be subliminal messages within it for sexual favors or something... I guess.

Basic working rule of thumb for comics ever since the 1940's:

Anything that involves an incredibly cool visuals like dinosaurs running amok through the streets of Manhattan then turned into alien Venom-symbiotes = ARTIST IDEA.

Anything that involves jungle men in loin cloths and conflicted homoerotic subtext = WRITER.

;-)

Ah, nothing like that homoerotic subtext.

Great issue, Fabes. I can't wait to see the finale.

(And of course, Deadpool poking fun at the Avengers and everybody else next ish!)

Reilly Brown continues to impress. His DP is far more awesomely drawn than Dillon's.
