New X-Men #46 - Review and Spoilers!!

[Hi-Fi]

Muir Island. Three hours ago.

Mystique looks at a comatose Rogue as Sinister enters. He says there's no cure and that Rogue will die. He also says Gambit is coming back with the child.

Mystique: I know. I've always known - as she pushes him over Rogue, forcing his face against hers. Sinister is dead.

Back to the present. Gambit can't believe Mystique really killed Sinister. That he's finally free of him (Oh, Remy. You should know better). They hear a scream. Regan's.

Outside, the fight is starting. Wolverine yealls at James and Rahne. They can't be soft or they'll die. Scalphunter puts a bullet on his head. Meanwhile, Rahne attacks Arclight, biting a piece off her neck. Riptide gets our conflicted girl out of the battle, through some kind of window. Wolverine is trying to get up. But he can't. Scrambler is at his side, holding his head, canceling his powers. Suddenly, Scrambler loses both hands and is stabbed in the stomach! It's X-23 to the rescue. Hepzibah is being targeted by Scalphunter. Warpath sees it and throws his big vibranium knife in his direction. Scalphunter gets stucked in the wall with the knife through his shoulder. Mystique appears and helps him out. She says they need to stop the X-Men, because Sinister needs more time with the baby. But it's too late. The other X-Men are here! We see Angel, Cyclops, Monet, Iceman, Cannonball, Strong Guy, Colossus and Siryn coming down from the sky!

Cyclops: Take them down, X-Men! All of them! And bring me Bishop!

Mystique rushes down to the lab. Gambit tells her that he only remained with the Marauders because he was placing his faith not in Mystique, but in her love for Rogue.

Gambit: You really believe in this baby?
Mystique: I don't need to believe. I KNOW.

She explains that Destiny saw her, Gambit and the baby in that very room with Rogue. Everything Mystique has done, it was bring they to this moment. She says the child will save Rogue. That all she did, she did for her daughter. Gambit asks her how it work. Do they hook up the kid to a machine? Mystique just makes the baby's face touch Rogue's.

At the Institute, Predator X attacks Santo, biting him. He thens goes for Dust Mercury, but they escape by using their powers. Indra, Trance and Wolf Cub are watching from a window. Predator X jumps for them, and they all run, except for Indra. Surge for the rescue! She's now facing the beast alone!

Muir Island. Away from the battle, Riptide is ready to finish Rahne. But he falls unconscious, courtesy of Professor X, who's now there with Cable. Rahne is out, but alive.

At the lab, something seems to be happening between Rogue and the baby. Gambit pushes Mystique and the baby away from Rogue and fall down with the kid.

Gambit: You never told me! You never said! Do you think Rogue would ever want this? God have mercy of us, Raven...

But surprise, surprise, the baby is alive and kicking. Gambit is shocked. Mystique goes for Rogue but nothing happened. She's still lying there, lifeless. Mystique starts crying on her knees. Saying that she doesn't understand. Rogue is supposed to wake up and realize she saved her and love her again. Gambit says she wouldn't. She would die before harming a child. And so would he. Someone walks in.

Professor X: Remy, I'm so very pleased to hear you say that.

The battle. Storm and Siryn try to defeat Exodus. Colossus and Frenzy fight. Emma freezes Harpon. Bishop faces Unuscione. Cable gets Tempo out of the battle by slamming her head. Xavier contacts him, saying he has the baby. Cable rushes in the lab direction. Charles asks what will Remy do now, and he says he needs to stay at Rogue's side.

The institute. Surge is hurt, almost dying. Suddenly, Predator X gets a big ounch on the face by Anole's big arm. He's there to save her, along with David, Dust, Rockslide and Mercury. Predator X runs.

David: It's a predator. It targets the weak.

Close on Hellion on the medlab bed. Nightcrawler has just woke up and Pixie is annoyingly filling him in on all events, while Beast tries to help him up. We see Loa at Elixir's side at the back. The wall is crushed. Predator X jumps in Hellion's direction, with Hisako and Nezhno trying to stop it, holding on to it. Kurt jumps and teleports Julian out of the way with Loa to the other side of the medlab. Nezhno and Armor are still holding the beast when the rest of the NXM appears, David and Nori working together to defeat the monster. Pixie remembers that X-23 killed one of these things, so she says she'll teleport it to where Laura is now. She then teleports everybody to Muir Island!! Only Loa and the wounded remain.

As soon as Predator X gets to Muir Island, it eats Vertigo! LOL. Then it smells the baby.

Xavier meets Cable. He gives him the baby. Someone is running on their direction, though. It's Bishop!

Cable is going for the run, but Predator X is RIGHT THERE and it jumps for the baby!

TO BE CONCLUDED.

Damn, Bishop didn't shoot Prof X to get at the baby and cause him to be crippled again?! Come on Bishop, after all you done, pop him!!:rolleyes:
Ok, sounds like a good issue and action throughout. Glad to see none of the kids did not get eaten (including Hellion). They have had a rough couple of years. David back in command just the way it should be. Cable vs PredX vs Bishop. should be interesting.

My guess is the baby may be able to reboot/restore mutant powers. Much like Sage or that green glob from X-Men: First Class. That's why she's the hope for mutants in the future. After she grows up and gets a bit of training. I'd assume that would also empty Rogue's mind of all the extra minds within' her.

Maybe the baby has a thin force field... like Radius from Alpha Flight? I dunno. It's got something going for it, that's for sure.

And every X-Man got mentioned in the review... EXCEPT DARWIN! Anyone get eyes on that guy? Haven't seen him since Cyclops assembled his team in the Xavier Institute hangar...

He's not there. I think he stayed in the hangar. LOL.
