Default Uncanny X-Men #495 - Divided We Stand Preview Pages

Quote:
In the wake of Messiah CompleX's conclusion, the X-Men are no more -- but where do Xavier¹s former students go from here? The surviving mutants must reassess Xavier's dreams and decide if peaceful coexistence is still an option. An X-Men: Divided We Stand tie-in, this issue sets the stage for mutantkind's future and while former allies are mourned, is the world truly safer? Meanwhile, Iron Man confronts Cyclops with a plan for ensuring the safety of all mutants -- but will he agree?"

I have to admit... that looks sweet! I wasn't looking forward to Uncanny post-MC, but this has me a bit more excited.

Choi is very hit-and-miss for me.

Some panels look awesome. But some don't look very good at all.

I think he's better at drawing women than men.

Choi's style seems more appropriate for a book like X-23 than X-Men.

Tony and Scott having a convo after it's settled down..that should be interesting considering Tony is about to get a even bigger push this year than the last two.

I would love for the next page to be Scott blasting Stark out of the air.

Probably not gonna happen though. :( If I remember correctly, the SF location was a foiler and they're actually going to the Savage Land.

Oh MAN! It looks so FAB! Look! San Francisco! It's so DAZZLUH! I bet Dazz herself is down on Castro street between these panels!

Some very cool scenes by Choi.

Why the hell does Tony Stark think that he's got all the mutant answers? Does he have a lovely beach resort on a empty island for all the mutants to 'vacation'? :evilsmile

I disagree with you on that one. Given the seriousness of their situation and the drama unfolding, this topic needs an artist that can bring out facial expressions and body jestures more to the forefront. Because I don't think there are a lot of artists out there that can pull off action sequences and turn around and pull it in for tight & intense drama.

Yeah. He does seem to draw women better as opposed to men. Looks pretty good though in my opinion.

My only beef with Choi's art is that some of his male characters look too young for their ages, particularly Logan, and Cyclops when he's cleanshaven :p. But for the most part, I love that he gives them individual and civilian clothing rather than just always having them in costume. The attention to detail is great too (you can see reflections in Scott's glasses, the cold breath emerging from Scott's mouth when Bobby partially ices up and grabs him by the collar in 204, etc.)
