The conclusion of a look at the READS phenomenon...also, there's word that Dave has a new comic coming out in the spring, and that he'll actually post about it and answer questions around the internet, including possibly right here. Oh, and congrats, Gail, for the WW gig and the mention in the NYT. :) Take care, TTM |

Just because most women won't fuck the guy doesn't mean he has to 'zomg h888 feminnizum'.
But hey, it's easier to blame women who want equal rights than it is to fix one's own personal failings. Big deal.

Dave is really one of the best comic creators to come along in the last 40 years.
His work is simply fantastic. And having met him I must say that he is a pretty polite and friendly man in person. He is really quite the nutter though.

If you're Canadian and you draw a page a day for more than a decade or so you go nuts. I don't know why, it just happens.
Maybe it's the lack of sunshine, maybe the cold, maybe the bacon... Like most people who tell it like it is they really just show themselves as what they are. They reveal the truth but not the truth they think they do. |

I mean, shit, it didn't help that Dave started to take his own artistic diversion literally by the end; but that's no excuse for anyone else.

Let me start off saying that I believe in equality for both sides. I believe if you are to hate a person do it for their personality not their gender, race, sexual orientation, religion and so on(unless they kill animals, babies and the planet. Then hate them all you want for those reasons).
Not to put a nail in my cross or anything, but I sort of see where Sim is coming from. Although I'm almost hoping that he isn't wording it correctly. There are some feminist groups out there that want female superiority over equality, unfortunately like PETA is to animal rights, these are the ones that are being heard out. They make women who fought to be treated equally and with respect total monsters. It is true that society favors women in some cases, but I think it's more of the misogynistic view of women than feminism. I think it's because women are still seen as helpless so society has to do things in their favor. Even before all of this men feared disappointing their mothers to a degree and I think it's the same mentality. Appease women and your mommy will still love you. Damn those mommy issues. There are those women that give other females bad names, the one that go out there and abuse the whole can't hit a women thing. Like I say if you want to be treated equally you have to take the whole package that comes with those rights. So that is how I interpret(sp?) Sim's comments. But he also has to realize that when women first started asking for rights we went through the whole, "Ok we will listen to you, but still favor men over women." I think it's just a role reversal that might end up negatively. Those fem-nazi groups might go too far and be as bad as those misogynistic men. So again I believe in equality for both sides. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Any obective glance at the state of men and women's rights in the US, Canada, and worldwide can see that there is no comparison; women don't have as many rights as men. They don't get paid as much, they don't have as many freedoms, and they don't receive as many privileges.
Considering most folks who make laws are men, if men are upset at some losses of privileges, they should point the finger at themselves.

The whole 69 cents on the dollar thing is bogus, predicated on exclusion from the big boys club of the board room or major league sports -- like 99% of all men, too. That, and the averaging out of the years a woman might well spend raising a kid instead of working. In most walks of life, compensation's pretty even. Aside from having to fight for reproductive rights again and a bloody gain, I'm hard pressed to see women having less rights than men. More, in some ways, since men get stuck with paternity costs and don't have a say in the matter. Plus, women live longer, and get to live off the pensions we died before we collected. *blows raspberry*
