Looks like I'm the first to get started on this.

October 1stNight of the Living Dead (1968)

Looking over the options available through OnDemand, I decided to start the month with George Romero's original zombie classic.

Pretty cheesy, I spent much of the film making sarcastic comments to myself, but most of the film's flaws can be directly attributed to its minuscule budget.

It's still better than the 1990 remake, of course.

I discovered another remake was made last year. My interest in seeing it is nonexistant.

I watched the Omen and Omen 2 yesterday. The first one is a classic, the second one is less good. However, one thing I didn't realize was just how powerful Damien is in those movies. Let's recap.

1.) Control over birds and dogs.
2.) Psychic powers where he's able to kill people with just a thought.
3.) Telekinesis? In Omen 2 he throws a boy into a wall with just a thought.
4.) Pyrokinesis In Omen 2 Damien shoots a fireball through the door and burns up his step mom.
5.) Weather control??? In the first Omen movie the weather changed dramatically and the priest is killed because of it. Is Damien in control of that?
6) Unknown levels of durability - Damien takes no damage from breathing in toxic gas and has never been sick?

Anyone else know of any powers that Damien has shown?

Dude, Scanners rocks. The FX are awesome, the script is well written and tight, and the actors are excellent, especially Michael Ironside. Patrick McGoohan aint no slouch, either.

Dead hands grope in the shadows, the stars turn pale with fright,
For this is the Dragon's Hour, the triumph of Fear and Night.

The telekinetic choking seems to be the most direct "power" that Damien has

The rest of it seems to be more "coincidence fu", or Daddy arranging things, than an actual conscious attack by Damien. One of my favorite reviewers called the Omen series the antecedent to the Final Destination series.

I think Omen II is a lot of missed opportunities. They could have made a better movie out of Damien's internal struggle with himself.

I'm really hoping Fearnet was saving the real shit for October..........up to this point, Fearnet is a joke IMHO.

i bought and watched the movie 'Funny Man.' it had Christopher Lee in it so i figured that it couldn't be that bad. boy was i ever wrong! There was absolutely nothing funny, scary, or entertaining about this movie.

short synopsis: "When Max Taylor wins the ancestral home of Callum Chance in a game of Poker, little does he realise that the game is far from over... One by one, Max's family are murdered by the Funny Man, a demonic jester with a varied and imaginative repertoire of homicidal techniques and an irreverent sense of humour. Meanwhile, Max's brother is on his way to the mansion with a bunch on hitchhikers who will be lucky to survive the night."
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0109858/

how can you lose with a demonic jester, right? for starters, have him talk like a regular guy and not be jester-like. then throw in a lot of drug humor and weird camera effects. and have everyone talk in thick accents. throw in two of the most unattractive women to ever grace a screen. make several drawn out unfunny jokes. stir. yeah, i'm no good at reviewing. could someone please waste their money and watch this movie; just so i won't suffer alone? damn british humor.

i like how none of them rush to escape once the killing begins (in Slaughter High). one actually stops to shower in the school. i've never seen a stupider cast of victims. of course, the ending sort of explains their behavior.
