Anyway, here's hoping Tim & DDP don't take too much of a hit on sales.
This will undoubtedly have an impact on sales of the singles... but hopefully drive up sales on the trade.

(And hopefully not drive up prices on eBay)

Just to update everyone...DDp did add the ability to order single issues on the site. Please order from your store first, but if you live in an area without a LCS order away!

Ah. Guess I should have posted here instead of just in the news thread.

I don't get this crap? Yet I find this fascinating. Not only as a fan of the movie, but of Lovecaft in general. His stuff has always been a gray area for copyright, but this doesn't even sound related to that. Unless some fly by night company is claiming rights, but that doens't make sense since the movie obviously already exists.

Of course, being from Lovecraft country myself, I've been interested in tinkering in some lore for comics ideas too. Though this has me a bit befuddled. Of course I was moreso going to use vauge references and tone anyway, maybe not direct settings.

Anyway, I wish you guys the best in figuring this out.

Then I read the Lying in the Gutters Column.

Whoo boy that's a pickle. Where the hell did this company come from? The report confirms the Re-Animator story is public domain. (Funny sidenote, I remember hearing Lovecraft didn't care for it due to its serialization anyway. Never mind he was quite free with his creations with other authors.)

What I didn't know is that the Army of Darkness / Re-Animator comic was not liscenced by the movie makers! Obviously the book was using the look and story of the movie's character, not just Lovecraft's. It was solicited and sold as such. Now the company that put that out is claiming the makers of the film doesn't have the rights to the film character? What?! I wish Yuzna had caught this company back then and straighted things out.

Meanwhile, I gotta confess myself that I still haven't picked up Hack Slash in trade. I keep meaning to jump on, but I'm one of those completists. Though, the good news in that is that one reason I haven't is because my small local store sold out of them, including that awesome looking omnibus. That's on top of the owner saying he liked the series and keeps ordering it. I just keep missing it. I think I saw the omnibus resolicted, so maybe if I got the extra money when it comes out.

Though I'll certainly alert my shop to this news. (He really don't check CBR like I keep telling him to.)

Thanks, Russell!

Both interviews were fun to do, and supposedly there is a follow-up interview coming up..... and I am still expecting another from Mid-Ohio to go online soon.

Because of this change does it mean shops in the UK are going to have problems getting the issues effected?

So should people in the UK order direct from the website instead?

I'd say more than likely. See if your shop is willing to order from the website - if not, just order it yourself. That's what I did.

((It may be worth looking around the site to see what else you can pick up - postage is a little easier to handle when buying in bulk.)

You should be able to get your retailer to order some copies, same as a US store..but, if you're concerned, the individual issues are a decent alternative.
