Cable and Deadpool #30 brings us the first part of a Civil War tie-in, and the first truly classic issue of the book in a while. And, oh yeah, The Great Lakes Avengers...er, Champions.
This book is classic Deadpool, the Joe Kelly bizzareness and moral confusion coupled with the universal humor of Gail Simone and funny gags about thought captions. Seriously, everything about this issue was spectacular, and I'm excited more than ever for the future of this book...largely because the idea of a Deadpool solo is being mentioned casually in the book and suggested subtly in the letters page, as if to test the water...Fabian, please, if you ever check in, let us know what's up! Anyway, the fight with the Great Lakes Champions is short but has all the necessary humor, and the best part of it was the day-saving Squirrel Girl, who thinks Wade is an "EVIL, EVIL" man. Deadpool's back in the merc biz as a government employee (and self-recongized X-Man), and he's going after Daredevil. Cable's up to some anti-registration stuff, planning behind the scenes and whatnot. Luckily, his presence does not overshadow that of Deadpool, who just owns this book. The rest is too good to spoil, but buy it, people. This is truly a high point. Plus, this is the first tie-in that has really worked well to old and new fans. Great job, everyone involved. I was especially impressed with Staz Johnson's pencils, I didn't realize how much talent he had. I usually never notice inks, but it's funny, because something about the art reminded me of Miller, and it turns out Klaus Janson's inking. How about that. Anyway, I was expecting a different cover, but this one is much more entertaining. Squirrel Girl's hot. And as for Amanda Conner...any chance this is Amanda Denton with a new married name or something? I know it's an odd thing to ask, but there's not that many females in the biz, not that many Amandas, and Conner's style is sorta similar to Denton's style, and Denton has history with Deadpool. Silly question, I'm sure, but still... Anyway, enough of the rambling. Sorry. A+

One thing I forgot to mention: even though it's an obscure reference that no one else will get, it was cool that Deadpool met the Girl on his beloved underoos! Unfortunately, she gutted him and stuff, so he probably doesn't like her as much anymore. Still, a great milestone in Deadpool history.

So Deadpool knows who the fake Daredevil is, and it's driving me crazy. He could know for a couple reasons, some of which could be used to infer his identity.
BIG SPOILERS, SERIOUSLY I wrote a really long post, but I deleted it because I came to the following conclusion in the middle: It's Iron Fist! Didn't that happen in that one issue with Cage and Iron Fst guest-starring? Deadpool was kneed in the face and said "Hey I was talking"? Hence the Deja Vu? Yes! I'm, like, 90% sure it did...anyone have access to the issue?

![]() ![]() Fabian you magnificant bastard! I'd be more concerned about spoilers if Marvel didn't already screw it up with the directors cut of Civil War #1.

Naturally, I loved the way Fabes handles Cable. Cable's speech to Cap was great and I love that Fabian was writing Cable as thinking beyond the "minor" current conflict. I can also appreciate the "I'll do what I can when I can" to account for Millar flagrantly using Cable in the main Civil War mini.

This issue runs like a Joe Kelly isse. Ths was pure Deadpool mania.Deadpool grabbing Big-Bertha's you-know-what?....LOL!:D The running-gag with the first-person narrative?...LOL:D Deadpool calling Wiccan and Hulking nubile? LOL:D Throw in the whole Civil War conflict, some sweet Cable/Cap America dialogue, and Deadpool's reasoning to hunt down baddies....just a great issue. When Cable asks Deadpool "Wade, you never asked me, whose side am I on?" - I thought it was a very poignant moment of the issue - and I was slightly disappointed yet understanding of Wade's response. He figures Cable is "above it all", but there's so much more going on that just that. Cable has agendas running everywhere...but that's why Deadpool is Deadpool..he lives for the moment and I hope he never changes. Although I know he's smarter than just shrugging off Cable, thinking he's going to do nothing about Civil War.

I love how they changed their names to the Great Lakes Champions. And how Pool tossed out Squirrel Girl's name on the really dangerous people's list.

By the way, did I mention that this was a fantastic issue? So far, I've liked a majority of the Civil War tie in's more than the mini itself, and this issue was no exception.
