Default Favourite platonic friendships in comics

It's all in the title - which friendships in comics are your absolute favourites? No sex involved, just two people who are obviously fantastic friends.

I often get frustrated with the portrayal of Superman and Batman's friendship, but now and again I see a writer knock it out of the park. When written right - two guys with vastly different outlooks and methods, but these same shared core values and a massive respect for one another - its fantastic. They're brothers in my head, who is the elder and who is younger shifts a lot, but its definatley brotherly.

Superboy and (Red) Robin recently showed why it's another one of my favourites.

Supergirl and Thara ak var in Action Comics actually struck a chord with me today. Someone asks "Why are they fighting?", with the reponse "They're friends." for some reason, that made me totally buy the notion of their previous friendship.

I remember morrison's JLA had a cool thing going on with Kyle and J'onn J'onzz, and Kyle and Wally. Always like to see those parings.

What friendships do you guys like?

Though not a one of these is without their bumps in the road:

Every one in Hitman
Smax & Toybox
Fire & Ice

Scandal & Bane would be another, after SS #10.

Iceman and Beast - they bring out the fun parts of eachother's personalities, and it's all too rare to see the X-Men being fun.

Peter Parker and Flash Thompson - I always really liked the fact that Peter could become such good friends with someone who was once his greatest tormentor. The fact that there is often lingering baggage because of that just makes it more interesting.

Jean Grey and Storm - One of the first things I ever read in an X-Men comic was the two of them having a friendly lunch together. It made a lasting impression.

Marvel Girl and Scarlet Witch (in X-Men First Class) - It sucks that Jeff Parker had to invent a friendship between them so that Jean could have a female friend from her youth, but he created a wonderful dynamic that really added something to his portrayal of Jean.

I always liked the friendship between Rachel Summers and Kitty Pryde.

Also, Peter Parker and Norman Osborn, before Norman went crazy and definitely before "Brand New Day." Any friendship between Norman and Pete post-BND does not count, like everything post-BND.

EDIT TO ADD: I meant Harry! HARRY! God, what is wrong with my brain?

Don't answer that, smartasses...

Norman and Peter have never been friends.

I think you mean Harry, the guy who was his childhood friend and didn't throw his girlfrind of a bridge.

And post BND does count since now they're closer(and Harry finally sticking it to Norman was awesome).

Not only did he not throw his girlfriend from a bridge, he made a point of saying that just because he was having his problems with Peter (trying to kill him and all), he wasn't going to go and thow his wife from a bridge. That's friendship.

Do I have to have a talk with you about seperating your fantasies from what's actually in the comics too? For shame.

Of course, it's Claremont, so it's understandable.
