Default Medusa's Hair: How Strong is it?

How strong is Medusa's hair?

When I say that, could it easily be cut by regular scissors or is it very strong and resistant?

If so, how strong?

What are it's limits and what's the strongest thing it's crushed, tossed, or basically did lots of damage to?

What are some amazing feats of Medusa and her really amazing hair?

Odd one this because I think that her hair is surrounded by a telekinetic field that allows her to pick people up with it without her physically falling over (seeing as shes technically not super strong...although she is possibly stronger than a non-powered human)...so I'd say the hair itself is like normal hair...I could be completely wrong but I'm sure the TK field has been mentioned in the handbook at some point.

This is from the old handbooks:
Quote:
Medusa possesses a long, thick head of hair, every strand of which has greater tensile strength, modulus of elasticity, and shear resistance than an iron wire of the same thickness (average hair diameter: .045 inches), as well as the psychokinetic ability to animate her hair for a number of feats. Her hair, approximately 6 feet in length while relaxed, can elongate to almost twice its normal length with only about a 25% loss of overall tensile strength. One strand of hair, 2-feet long, can support 6.4 pounds, a fist-sized lock of hair can support about 750 pounds and her whole head of hair can lift about 3,200 pounds (1.6 tons). A portion of her hair must be used to anchor the rest at these greater weights, so that more than her scalp/skull is used as a brace.

But not strong enough to stop Rulk from pulling it out, with a censored swearword "I don't care!" type caption. And a gleeful grin.

Not strong enough to overcome Maximus' scissors.

EDIT:

Actually, that only happened because Medusa allowed Maximus to cut her hair. The Inhumans needed a plant inside Maximus' base and Medusa played "hostage" long enough to sabotage Maximus' tech. It's explicitly stated in the story that she relinquished psychokinetic control of her hair so Maximus could cut it.

In his arrogance & ignorance, Maximus didn't realize that Medusa could still animate her hair even after it was cut. Medusa commanded her shorn locks to deactivate rhe controls of a weird force field Maximus was using.

Not only is Medusa's hair strong, but she can also crack it like a whip. In the Beyond mini, issue 2, Medusa metes out royal punishment on Venom by whipping him with her hair. I think the text said her hair hit at twice the Speed of Sound or so. So, fast & painful!

Medusa can also apparently animate it fast enough to move like a fan, as she did when dispersing the Sandman in the old MU Handbook's entry picture. Medusa also possesses fine control of her hair, and can type, turn a page, juggle, or pick locks.

She also used it to cut through webbing that Spider-Man wrapped her in -- way back when in Amazing Spider-Man (reprinted in The Super-Hero Women).

...yes, I know.

I thought the tongue in cheek nature of my first post would be evident, and a would be unnecessary, but apparently not. Heh.
