Default The Final Days of Dark Reign (The Avengers Initiative )

IGN's little feature that they've been doing for the players in Dark Reign (and I would assume Seige)

http://comics.ign.com/articles/104/1040899p16.html

Not a whole lot of new information save for some uninked pages for issue # 30 (which is pretty cool) but it's basically an overview on whats gone down in ATI since Dark Reign.

Personally I've enjoyed ATI under Dark Reign so far with only a few minor quibbles such as

What happened to the Baron? He's really been put on the backburner since Dark Reign began which is to be expected when a book has as large a cast as ATI but I seem to recall Gage saying Osborn would be giving him leeway for all kinds of unethical experimentation and aside from cloning Dwayne Taylor we really haven't seen a lot form him.

Also shouldn't we have gotten a 2nd annual by now? Another minor complaint and I suppose one could argue we already got the 2 1 shots we got earlier in the year (Reptil and Komdo/Hardball I believe) either way it's not a big deal but I just figured we'd have one by now.

As to "Everything changing" after seige boo, boo, boooooooooooooooo It's not that I don't have confidence in Gage as a writer because I do but I think Marvel is taking a tremendous chance in completely changing what has made the book work so well to begin with.

So- the shadow initiative is obsolete huh? Wonder what's gonna happen to them after "Siege" (Particularly Constrictor.)

Well at least they still exist just not in the same capacity as pre Dark Reign.......Personally I could see the army of expendable z-listers working for a little while. (I do however prefer the shadowy ops team) Personally I don't see the the shadow initative existing in any capacity in the so called "heroic age" as there probably wouldn't be any connection to the govt.

Constrictor's no longer part of the Shadow Initiative. it's why he wasn't one of the ones to be sent to fight off Blastaar. it's also why he's actually been in the news instead of being kept a secret. he and Diamondback are supposedly teaming up w/ the Dark Avengers during Siege.

Constrictor should hook up with the original T-Bolts, like Songbird, Atlas and Abe. That'd be fitting.

Ahhh but would it prove to be as financially successful as Ellis's or Diggle's direction for the T-bolts. It probably isn't fair to compare it Ellis's run but I don't think going back to being a redemption driven book would prove financially successful when compared to the last 2 runs and when it comes down to it it's all about the $$$.

i don't think they have much of a choice but to go back to the old ways.

Probably but if DC's managed several runs with the suicide squad and a current run with Secret Six I don't see why Marvel couldn't manage to keep the current format going somehow....It would require some tweaking but it is doable.

I sure as hell don't want the T-bolts to go back to what it was pre-Civil War but we shall see.

I like that idea, but right now, I haven't seen much of the original Tbolts. When are they gonna show up??

I wouldn't put $$ on that quite yet if I were you as the latest solicitation for ATI has Constrictor, Diamondback and Taskmaster being confronted by Thor. (no mention of whether they have any backup or not though) so you tell me who hase the edge in that match

On the other hand Thor has been known to be mercifiul at times

I personally would really like to see a IThunderbolts line up of Songbird, Abe, Norbert, Paladin, Ant-Man, Constrictor, and Diamondback after Siege. I mean even in Marvels "Heroic Age" there will still be a need for team that does work that is too dangerous for other heroes (kinda like Suicide Squad, Secret Six, and the Mod Squad). So yeah I agree with Classicgmer on this one, if DC has Secret Six, then Marvel could do Thunderbolts like this. (a rag tag team of former villains, and amoral heroes taking the fight to groups like Hydra.)
