Since day one (aka Uncanny X-Men 1) it was established that being a mutant meant being a different race, a different species. They are known as "Homo Superior" according to the lovable Magneto. So... if the mutants are a race into itself, does the color of their skin an/or their facial features count them as being part of the lesser homo sapiens races? Is Sunfire Asian or is he mutant or is he a mutant asian? What should the correct clasification be for mutants that don't have blue skin or scales on their bodies?

Does it have to be an either or? Can't someone be both, and what take precedence depends on the situation?

At least mutants are not stupid enough to judge people just by the color of their skin.
Homo superior indeed. ^^ |

Don't you use "either, or" arguments in defense of Magneto?

"Race" is a social concept borne from the Victorian ideas of science. "Race" was a means of justifying segregation and oppressing minorities.
Also, I would hesitate to classify Mutants as a different species considering they can breed offspring from regular humans. KK, you would know the correct term for this! I am rusty on my "species classifications".

But as far as comparing that to "race", biologically there is no such thing.

Even if it were a seperate race (which 'race' is defined differently depending on who is asking) can't someone be black and asian? Then why not black and a mutant? The whole point of the X-Men is that crap like this shouldn't matter at all and that we are all people. So fighting over being a mutant erases your 'blackness' is ridiculous at best.
Go look up the what defines race in your state, it is different by state and organization. There is no legal consistent definition. Isn't the closest thing to mutation say like Downs Syndrom or Retts, or some other organic biological anomoly? Mutation is not a race, mutation is biologically bound.

And Paulie may not have said anything based on skin color, but he sure was a homophobe.

stan lee conception of the x-men was humans with a mutation that seperated them from the rest of society...
it was never a matter of race because genetics knows no race... but lee's conception was to make them a minority and at least that exists today.. think of utopia and nation x as isreal in it's infancy...

Psylocke is actually a whole new species. She exists out side of spacetime, and has more in common with Shadow King. Which means hid the space boys and swords, crazy cauc-ASIAN is on the loose!
