Thumbs up New Marcos Martin art in Amazing Spider-Man.

Marvel.com have showed a page of Amazing Spider-Man#618.

http://marvel.com/globals/view_gener...38700_full.jpg

This is part of the Mysterio story by Dan Slott and Marcos Martin in the Gauntlet storyline.

And Marcos Martin illustration look as cool as ever, his Spider-Man is the closest way a saw a artist drawing Spider-Man as Steve Dikto and yet it have it own personal art style.

Cool to see that Mr Negative and his henchmen will be back.
And Hammerhead back is just cool, after the greatness that was Amazing Spider-Man#575,576.
This new story have everything to be another top story in Amazing Spider-Man from the villains used(Mysterio,Hammerhead and Mr.Negative),to the writing and art.

Looking forward to see how will Marcos Martin drawn Mysterio in this story as well.

Great art, but I'm not sure its worth reading Amazing Spidey for just the art alone anymore....

..still, might reconsider....

I was actually considering picking up a Spider-Man book because of the art (Dark Reign, The List: Spider-Man) but two things happened:
  1. My local shop didn't have it, and
  2. Slott came on and took a shot at me for some reason for saying I might pick up the book just because I was interested in the art. Not sure that would have kept me from getting the book on its' own, but I'm certainly not going to spend a lot of time trying to track it down, either. I mean, if one of the book's creators cares that little about whether or not I give it a lash, why should I?

True.

Marcos Martin is one of the best revelations to drawn a cool Spider-Man in years in my opinion.

Along John Romita Jr and Chris Bachalo,Marcos Martin is a top artist as well.

Martin's got a style perfectly suited to Spider-Man, I think. It's too bad he doesn't work on the book more than he is right now. I think he should have been the featured artist for ASM #600, but that's just me.

I got happy enough with John Romita Jr drawing the main story in ASM#600.
I like the new style that John Romita Jr have drawing the stories now,and the colouring been done to his art have been impresive as well.

And Marcos Martin still did the art to the Stan Lee story in ASM#600 which was cool to see.

Besides the art,the story is writen by Dan Slott which is seen by many as the best writer now in the book.
I think Dan Slott writes the perfect "voice" to Spider-Man,and nothing to say againts his plots and action scenes which are usually great as well.

Yeah, I thought that was pretty cool as well. That was my favorite part of that issue.

Funny, I thought so too. I like JRJR just fine, but I personally thing Marcos Martin hands-down the best Spidey artist out there right now. It's clear to me, though, that Marvel wanted to put the artist they felt would be the biggest draw sales-wise on #600 and, considering how well it sold, it is hard to argue with their strategy but I peronally would have preferred Martin on the main story and JRJR on a backup. Then again, I vote for Martin to be the regular artist on this title if/when it over goes back to a monthly.

Regarding your second point, far be it from me to tell you how to spend your hard-earned sheckles especially when someone rubs you the wrong way but, for what it's worth, I thought it was actually Slott's best work on Spidey yet, stronger than all of his ASM arcs so far. And the art, of course, was stellar with Kubert at the helm. My one wee gripe is the $3.99 pricetag apparantly justified because of the backup reprint of The Pulse issue where Norman was outted as the Goblin. But, again, take it for what it's worth: I thought Slott stepped up after some hit and miss arcs of late in ASM and (without spoiling anything) I think you would be happy with the way Peter is portrayed in this story.

Wow! Really?

Earlier this month BrightestDay asked:

And that's "taking a shot" at you? Really? I'm sorry, but that was meant as a joke. Buy the issue, don't buy the issue, whatever. But if you took that to be a serious shot at you as a person, I apologize, and I'll try to keep this exchange in mind when responding to your posts in the future.

A link to the shot Slott took at you, which you felt demonstrates how little he cares about whether or not you give it a lash.

* Edit- And it seems I missed Slott's response, where he said the same thing.

Your shop sold out or didn't get any?

The art was awesome (except one panel of Norah... she looked like she was on her way to becoming the cyclops girl in Preacher).

When did Slott take a shot at you??

EDIT: I saw Mets's link. You thought that was a shot? I thought it was funny banter.
