Default Do you think Kate Kane & Renee Montoya will or should get back together?

Or are they going to keep dancing around each other just as Bruce Wayne & Selina Kyle have done all these years?

I like both characters, but I always felt putting DC's two highest profile lesbians in a relationship was kinda tacky.

Not sure why you should regard it as tacky?

No, I want Kate to be romantically unstable like Bruce.

It's like the marriage between Storm and Black Panther.

Think of it like this: Of all the thousands of people in Gotham, out of possibly hundreds of lesbians such a city might have, the two big name ones have to date. They couldn't make another lesbian character for one of them to date. The two big names have to be tied together.

I'm not sure if it is tacky or not in this instance, as I haven't read it, but I'm aware of the comics 'big names go together' thing, and it can be tacky.

I doubt that they will get back together for anything other than a short-term fling, if that. Not only would having Kate and Renee in a steady relationship reduce story potential, but Greg Rucka has stated in multiple interviews that he views Renee as a "lesbian version of Oliver Queen" who is incapable of monogamy.

Except Renee's also dated another woman, and Kate has a romance going on with Maggie. Besides, what's so ridiculous about this? I mean, it makes sense for the characters, it was a really natural development that Renee had an old flame in her past, it tied two characters who were otherwise off in their own corner together.

I would not mind if they patched things up, but i think it would take a lot of the sexual tension out that they had before in 52 .

But they seem to have a lot in common besides just being lesbians.

I think Greg Rucka himself, who seems to have the best handle on both characters, said that they love each other madly but don't really work well together. So, like Bruce and Selina (though for other reasons), it's unlikely a long-term relationship will arise between the two of them.

This is a secondhand source, however, as I'm relaying information from a panel a friend of mine attended. Make of it what you will.

Cheers.

Thanks for that info.

Is it just me or does their relationship parallel Bruce & Selina's in a lot of ways, that they could be seen as the ideal partner for each other but are just incapable of living together?

I say don't let them get back together. As it as already been mentioned here, putting those two in a serious relationship could really hurt the story potential

I think the biggest difference between the two is that Bruce/Selina is full of mind games and subtle dances and this evergoing challenge between the two to get Bruce to see her shades of grey and Selina to erase them, whereas Renee just wants to try her loner thing but Kate's just not taking any of Renee's bullshit so it becomes this conflict where Renee is fighting against her desire to be with Kate and Kate's fighting to be with Renee.

Sure. They'll drive off in their Subaru Forester together, two chocolate labs in the back, off for a weekend of fabulous brunch and wine tasting.
