The "Favourite So-and-so" threads focus only on one name, the polls leave too many people aside, so I suggest we make our own Top 5 of all writers on all X-Universe books.
No more than one name per position or it won't count. Only 2 exceptions - Kyle/Yost and Weir/De Filippis. Give some reasons for your choices if you wish. Or the titles you liked from any given writer if you don't pick him for all of them. Example - if I mention CC (and I will), it's mostly for his 1976-1991 work, not for New Exiles or New Excalibur. Points awarded: first place gets 5 points, second - 4, third - 3, fourth - 2 and fifth - 1 point. I'll add them up from time to time. That should give us a better idea who the X-Books forum posters deem worthy of entering the Big Five and who remains outside. Good thing is the results will show much more than five names. My Top 5: 1. Peter Allen David, aka PAD, aka Purely Awesome Dude. For his issues of Wolverine, X-Factor v.1 and most of all for X-Factor v.3 - my favourite Marvel ongoing ever since the Madrox mini-prequel. ![]() 2. Chris "The Patriarch" Claremont. For his seminal runs on Uncanny X-Men, New Mutants and Excalibur till 1991, his OGNs like "God Loves, Man Kills" and "The New Mutants", his issues of Wolverine including the two minis (yes, I like the one with Kitty too) and for X-Men Forever. My first X-Men issues were UXM #172-173 in a French magazine 23 years ago. If I'm still an X-books fan today, it's thanks to him. ![]() 3. Grant "Maverick" Morrison. For his run on New X-Men that remains one of the most groundbreaking, irreverential and interesting ones in 46 years of X-Men history, while at the same time taking into account what was done before. Too much Bachalo and Kordey and too little Jimenez and Van Sciver. Oh well, not his fault. ![]() 4. Professor Mike Carey. For his issues of X-Men pre-Messiah Complex with Rogue as a team leader (and it worked) and his X-Men Legacy - a great trip down Memory Lane. Pity he had Bachalo and Ramos on the former, good thing he had Scot Eaton on the latter. ![]() 5. The Dynamic Duo Craig Kyle/Chris Yost. For New X-Men: Childhood's End (that's post-House of M for the newbies) and for X-Force v.3 - the X-Men don't just show their claws, but use them at will. At last. Welcome to the 21st century.

I can only do a top 3, since theres is only 3 I actually like.
1. Morrison - Greatest X-men run ever. I don't feel the need to go into the run's brilliance. 2. Whedon - Flawed as Astonishing X-men was(SUPER decompressed, plotholes abound), it was a beautiful book full of sharp writing, fun characters, and a real X-men superheroic feel. If you can't do Morrison's way and just do the conventional style, this is how you do it. 3. PAD - I don't read a lot of his work, but he's awesome on everything. X-factor is consistently good.

1.) Chris Claremont - He made X-Men popular. Without him X-Men would have been canceled.
2.) Stan Lee - No Stan no X-Men. Nuff said. 3.) Scott Lobdell - He kept the book afloat while Chris was gone. Tuff shoes the fill but he manged it. Many other writers would have failed in his position. 4.) Fabian Nicieza - Similar to Scott Lobdell but he went out too the spin off books and did a great job. 5.) Steven T. Seagle/ Joe Kelly - Its a tie between them. |

5. The Dynamic Duo Craig Kyle/Chris Yost. For New X-Men: Childhood's End (that's post-House of M for the newbies) and for X-Force v.3 - the X-Men don't just show their claws, but use them at will. At last. Welcome to the 21st century. (The only good picture of both of them I can find is with Matt Fraction as well )

Only one counts, rawhide. Choose which one gets the point.

I try to stick with the 616. The Ultimate Universe is pure garbage.
