Default Thunderbolts #138 *Spoilers*

This was an awesome issue. It almost makes me regret not reading Jeff Parker's Agent of Atlas. The issue ends with the Thunderbolts being assigned their new targets, which happen to be, the Agents of Atlas.

But it looks like the Thunderbolts are in great hands. This was a great start.

Starting to love Mr. X and Ghost. The issue begins with Ghost camping out Mr. X's bed while he sleeps. Mr. X wakes up and is reminded of the fact that he hasn't killed anyone recently. This prompts Mr. X to leave the Thunderbolts base without authorization to a random location during war time.

The entire issue is action packed, as the Thunderbolts go to retrieve their rogue member.

As far as story, writing and art goes, this was an outstanding comic. I'd give it a 9 out of 10. Easily

Whereas Thunderbolts 137 almost made me consider dropping the book. The story was there, the art was there, but the writing was horrible. The power man Iron Fist issue was forced from the start.

So the book was awesome this month. Lets see if the quality stays that way. Jeff Parker did it once, lets hope he can do it again. And there's no reason to think he won't do just that.

I was going to pick this up by there was just too many damn books this week.

Was it accessible enough for someone who hasn't been exactly following Andy Diggle's run to not feel as if they're missing something?

All you need to know is Mr. X likes to kill, Ghost likes screwing around with Norman's operation, Paladin and Ant-Man like to bro out and Headsman doesn't like Mr. X.

That's too bad, it's my favorite issue of the series so far, Ant-Man & Paladin are the best around "Luke Cage", it made me more intent to read "Heroes for Hire" when Luke & Danny starred the book

The story for issue 137 was there. But if you sit down and look at the writing, the dialogue is off and it drags on for quite a long time.

Sometimes you can say more with fewer words.

So the concept was cool. The Iron Fist tearing everything up and Luke Cage trashing the Thunderbolts was great.

But the writing wasn't there. Re-read that issue and I think you'll see what i'm talking about.

I absolutely loved Diggle's TBolts, but that being said, Parker seems to have this going in the right direction. Everything was pretty decent, expect for Ant Man's dialogue (Monty Cristo, back me up). It was like 50/50 the entire time. Great exchange between Eric and Paladin when Ant Man was on his shoulder, but plllllease drop all the "bro's" and everything else like that.

The team is such a sausage-fest now.

Wasn't Black Widow 2 supposed to be joining?

After that horrible issue #137 is very good to see the Thunderbolts getting some quality again.

I cant wait to see what Mr. Parker has in store for Yelene Belova...

CBR: We also have the Black Widow, who many thought was the weakest link of the Mighty Avengers, stepping up and showing how formidable she really is.
Andy Diggle: The new team leader is Yelena Belova, the "evil" Black Widow II. She's a bad-ass Russian agent with a chip on her shoulder. Very capable, very seductive, very deadly.

Ghost is quickly becoming one of my favorite characters.

to be fair. i thought that he sounded kind of "off" when Diggle wrote him. and i can't blame Parker too much because he's only following the example left by whomever wrote the Luke Cage/Iron Fist standalone issue. but i wish it would stop. if they continue portraying Ant-Man like this it will become his default characterization. i wish he would read an issue or two of Kirkman's Irredeemable Ant-Man to see how it's done. or, heck, Gage was able to write a loserish Ant-Man without him throwing around 'bro' as well. otherwise, i thought it was a decent issue. Parker's Headsman is certainly living up to his name. and points for not having Paladin serve as a punching bag like in the other stories.

you sound like a Heroes for Hire fan. would you have enjoyed it as much if Luke and Danny had gotten their rears kicked? because, as a Thunderbolts fan reading a Thunderbolts book, i kind of felt like the t-bolts got the shaft in that issue. it was clearly a Luke Cage/Iron Fist book with the t-bolts as the villain(s) of the month. but to each their own.

100% agree with this.
