Well, I'd figure I'd go ahead start this thread. Especially since there's a "revelation" in this issue which I think is going to cause a lot of problems:
spoilers:
Feel free to discuss this and anything else about the issue.

Wow, thats actually really lame.
I got no problem with an Accidently-Having-One-To-Many Peter and i don't understand why people who are supposed to be intellectually mature feel there should be. I'm really disappointed that Marvel felt that they had to back-pedal on that one. Shame !I shall just skip that bit in my mind and carry on with the memories of Wedding-Lightweight Pete.

You know, MJ was pretty zonked as well from the night before. She didn't roll out of bed until the afternoon.
Maybe there's more to this than meets the eye...

Okay...I knew alcohol made Peter's spider powers go all wonky, but it also messes up his metabolism BECAUSE he has spider-powers? Or are you saying because of his spider-powers, Peter has a WORSE metabolism than the average person? Still kind of seems like a pointless addition, really.
And it still doesn't make any sense.

I think you are onto something. While Peter did have a somewhat legitimate excuse to get drunk. MJ was there to talk with Peter. It would not make sense for her to get drunk, and someone like MJ should know when to stop drinking unlike Peter who generally avoids alcohol because of his powers. It could be a pointless retcon, or it could be something else.

He's got enhanced healing powers (something I don't agree with) yet he can't hold his liquor? If his body is able to heal itself rapidly from horrendous injuries, then why can't his metabolism handle a glass of fermented grapes?
Were you guys unable to hide the office copy of #601 from the Disney reps?

Peter's metabolism can resist the toxic effects of snake venom (see various battles with the Lizard, where Liz sicced snakes on him). So he got so stoned that he climbed into bed with a woman he barely knows, from one little glass of champagne?
In other words, Marvel Editorial claims to ignore our complaints (after all, they've got those 10,000 subscriptions that alone can float the book, remember?), but then they retroactively monkey around with the stories anyway, because of complaints. I don't know whether to be smugly pleased, turned off by the hypocrisy, annoyed by the continuing stream of insincere mockery from Wacker & Company, or all three. |

Heh. I guess Marvel hasn't totally forgetten who Peter Parker is after all. Now to reveal that it was actually his clone (s) having all those one night stands.
