Ok Im going to be real and frank.
Im a huge @ss Marvel fan. Storm got me into comics then to DC after her crossover with wonderwoman. Marvel has the most amazing characters and teams like the runaways, x-men, avengers etc etc etc etc. Their 90's era was probably their most iconic with cartoons. x-men evolution was ALRIGHT!. it won a freaking emmy though and justive league nor JLU won anything. Im just saying IMO JLU beat the crap outta XE. Marvel cartoons are getting worse IMO WATX is decent spectacular spidey is gone. Iron mans new cartoon is...........in the special ed portion of cartoons seriously it sucks. When is marvel going to star making better animations seriously. And do you think disney is going to push marvel to making cartoons to rival JLU, JL and even batman brave and the bold. marvel has so many characters its ridiculous for them not to have already to have a show like this. IMO disney in say...3 years is going to probably see through that marvel has some of the best quality animations ever. and storylines along with it. what do youm all think?

I have to agree on the long running cartoons, JL was fantastic and IMO, better than even the 90's XMTAS which I loved. Likewise with BTAS. However, I really think animated Marvel does better with the direct to DVD movies. Dr. Strange was beautiful, and got me into the character. I did not think the Iron Man movie was that bad either. However, GL First Flight (or Light? I can't remember) had a hard time keeping my interest and no one seems real happy with Public Enemies at the moment (I haven't seen it though). I did enjoy the WonderWoman animated movie, but since JL I'm not sure DC has the market on the best animated films. WATXM isn't so bad IMO, but look at the market. It's not made for the die-hard fans. JL walked the line between getting the fans and the kids both interested which is hard to do. I think Marvel needs to revisit this with X-Men, Spidey and the Avengers. The Ultimates movies were good, but I think covering the 616 Avengers in a PG-13 move could pay off well. I am excited about Madhouse's Iron Man (not so much the Wolvie), and the Planet Hulk anime seems to have promise. I just wish someone would move the X's to PG-13, and slap some good animation on it.

This is the first time (and likely the last) I have agreed with you on something.
Ultimate Avengers and Ultimate Avengers 2 both were not all that good. The Invincible Ironman was forgettable. Doctor Strange: The Sorcerer Supreme was ok, but left something to be desired. Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow was good, and in my opinion be on cable network as a series. But it left something to be desired. Hulk vs. was the best Marvel Animated movie to date, in my opinion it’s the only one in quality that seems on Par with the DC stuff. Then you have Planet Hulk and Thor: Tales of Asgard coming up. But the downside is that we just had “Hulk vs.” which features the Hulk and Thor. For some reason Marvel misses the boat with the direct to video movies, but I think it’s getting better. Planet Hulk looks great. There are also several anime in the works, the X-men, Wolverine (which they need to totally scrap, because it looks bad), Ironman (which looks awesome) and Blade. So things are looking up… As for TV series, DC once again is better. Batman: Brave and the Bold is great. I don’t know if Superhero Squad is marvel’s answer to Batman: Brave and the Bold, but if it is that is a fail on marvel’s part. Superhero squad is fun stuff but just not on the level of Batman: Brave and the Bold. Iron Man: Armor Adventures is a failure not in quality, but concept. They should have just had stories about an adult Tony Stark. DC doesn’t do teen Bruce Wayne. Wolverine and the X-Men and Spectacular Spiderman are good. Then you have “the Avengers” TV series coming out, and also "Black Panther" series coming out. So yeah, DC is better. Batman: Brave and the Bold actually does a great job introducing c-z list characters in a way were they are truly highlighted. Marvel really doesn’t have a show like that now. SHS isn’t it… they also have “DC Showcase.” doing the same as Brave and the Bold is doing with lesser know characters. Also they have Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths coming out in 2010 written by Dwayne McDuffie. Also, wtf lol. Quote:

Meh. Disney cartoons have been downright unwatchable for some time now too. Nothing there that Mavel could benefit from.

But hopefully they can put out some quality stuff that has some teeth. I just can't remember the last time they've put something out that has been for someone over the age of 8. I fully admit I may just be completely ignorant.I have to disagree about the anime. I think there is potential (just not the Wolverine one). I liked the Gotham Knight feel, as well as the Riddick. I considered the style more anime than animation (although again, I am not that schooled so I might just have the terms messed up). I also like the atmospheric elements of the Dr. Strange film, even if I can't reallly remember the story. They just need to find the balance between hitting the market they are looking for and keeping the fans happy. Not east. JL was much more for adults even though it was appropriate for kids. However I think they were the most successful at finding that balance.

Superhero Squad, I believe, has an entirely different objective. IE - it's supposed to be silly, nonsensical and just plain cracked out fun (while it does have a vague plot thread, that's not really the point). Turning one's brain off is essential. Superhero Squad is kind of unique in that way. I don't think DC has a parallel to Superhero Squad.

Yes the Disney amination department can surely help Marvel make better cartoons. Hate the new Iron Man show...i loved 90's Xmen, and Spiderman. Like the Spectacular Spiderman and kinda like Xmen: Evolution. Abhor both FF's 90s and the latest pile, hated Iron Man and never saw that much of the Hulk cartoon.
DC with Superman, Batman, and the JL/JLU are the best super hero animation standard there is (Could have something to do with being done by WB)

First of all, I don't think anyone needs to compare Marvel's cartoons to the DC's top tier cartoons - because they are just immaculate. (That's one area that DC gets my full props.)
Marvel, if they get owned by Disney needs to just focus on their own story magic and let it go from there. |
