I thought that the whole concept of ridiculous padding and pouches all over the place, of which we saw WAY too much of in the 90's, was gone for good. Now Batgirl seems to need an extra set of useless pouches on her left thigh. What, the ones on her utility belt weren't enough? Does that mean she carries more gizmos than Batman? In general, the new outfit is cool, but the pouches really detract from giving it a nice clean design. And yes, I know I'm nitpicking but that's what the internet is for.

Nitpicking? I can nitpick to justify it, like with this counterpoint: she couldn't possibly fit as many items in her utility belt as Bruce does on his, he is a massive dude, 6'2", compared to a tiny 5'5" young lady in the form of Stephanie. There is no way she could fit the same sized pockets/pouches around her waist as Bruce can around his own. Her needing an additional belt/something in order to carry the same number of items actually makes perfect logical sense.
I can see not liking the thigh pouch, I don't particularly enjoy it, but it isn't quite the same as the '90s horrible-costume tropes for me. Those were the giant shoulder pads, sunglasses, or a trench coat for me. The thigh belt doesn't really add anything, but it isn't a huge detriment.

It's a chick thing. They need to carry more stuff, like hair products, lip gloss, makeup, teeth whitening strips, emergency tampons ..

Barbara was probably staring at Az's old uniform in the cave when she came up with Steph's costume.

Lee Garbett's original design didn't have that thigh belt.

Her entire costume is a joke. From the tired moto boots (ugh, again? We've seen those on Dinah already) to the Liefeldian pouches (wtf?) to the ridiculous non-Batgirl color scheme, it's a complete travesty (just like Stephanie Brown assuming the mantle of Batgirl).

^^^^^Agree
People use thigh pouches in real life to carry stuff so when I see it I don't think 90's I think thats what people use now.I like it,Batman in underwear is more of a dated concept that needs to go. |

Sweet mercy thank goodness there's a pouch there! The alternative would be banana-hammocked old man junk.

Although I strongly dislike the new Batgirl costume, I have absolutely no problem with the thigh pouch and actually kind of like it. What I have a problem with is the purple color scheme, the exposed hair, and the ribbed sides.
