Default Daredevil and Frank Miller...where to begin?

Hey guys, big DD fan and I'm looking to collect Miller's much loved run. What trades do I need to purchase, I've seen like four different tpb's but not sure which volumes of what I should be getting! Any other runs that I should collect before or after?

Oh and I already have Bendis' run and beyond!

Thanks ahead of time!

Get all of Miller's run, starting chronologically -- it all builds off of itself, so cherry picking parts of the run isn't really necessary. Once you've read his initial DD run, get Born Again, which is fantastic, and then The Man Without Fear, which is just a retelling of his origin.

I got that much, but the problem is there's different versions I've seen

Daredevil vol 1
Daredevil visionaries vol 1

Which series should I get the volumes of?

And where does

Daredevil the Man without fear by Frank Miller
Daredevil Reborn

Take place in regards to the original trades?

See my confusion?

Omnibuses:
Daredevil by Frank Miller and Klaus Janson Omnibus (main run, plus ephemera)
Daredevil by Frank Miller and Klaus Janson Omnibus Companion (Born Again, Man Without Fear, Love and War)
Elektra by Frank Miller Omnibus (Assassin, Lives Again, plus ephemera)

Oversized Hardcovers:
Elektra Lives Again (included in Elektra Omnibus)
The Complete Frank Miller Spider-Man (partially included in Omnibus)
Daredevil/Elektra: Love and War (collects Love and War from Omnibus Companion and Elektra: Assassin from Elektra Omnibus)

Premiere Hardcovers:
Daredevil: Born Again (included in Omnibus Companion)
Daredevil: Man Without Fear (included in Omnibus Companion)

Trades:
Daredevil by Frank Miller and Klaus Janson (three volume series - same as Omnibus)
Daredevil Visionaries: Frank Miller (three volume series - roughly same as Omnibus, but missing the Spider-Man stuff and a few other minor pieces)
Daredevil: Born Again (included in Omnibus Companion)
Daredevil: Man Without Fear (included in Omnibus Companion)
Elektra: Assassin (included in Elektra Omnibus)

It's basically a lot of the same material packaged in different ways with varying degrees of overlap.

If you prefer trades to omnibuses and can't find the DD/Elektra hardcover, you'll probably miss out on Love and War, but it's not really a big loss. Ditto the Spider-Man material.

Visionaries is out of print. The three volume series with Miller and Janson on the cover are the current ones that you'd want to buy.

Born Again was Miller's return to Daredevil after a few years away.

Man Without Fear is a version of Daredevil's origin, based on an aborted film project. It's technically not connected to the rest of Miller's run, although it's still very, very good.

If you want to get them all, there is a Daredevil Miller Omnibus out with his first epic run on the title and supplemented with Miller Omnibus Companion that has his later work. That's 2 big omnibus(es?) that covers it all. You could add it to your Xmas or preferred Holiday list.

DAREDEVIL: LOVE'S LABOR LOST also has some Frank Miller stories in it--the ones from #219 and 226 amid some of Denny O'Neil's stuff.

The Omnibus Companion hardcover is still available some places--instocktrades.com has it, for one, at a reasonable price of about $37. Pick that up along with the 3 Daredevil by FM trades and you'll be good to go, as the 1st Omnibus is far too expensive now, being out of print ($130 on eBay).

Loves Labors Lost is a great read..but not really Frank Miller. It does though feature David Mazzucchelli's first DD work. Maz would of course work with Frank on the legendary BORN AGAIN arc. He's probably my fave DD artist among the many legends and greats that have worked on the character.

I'd actually not get the first volume of Visionaries because while Miller draws the stories, he doesn't write them and they are a world apart from THE Frank Miller we came to know and it was an abrupt differences. Miller changed the tone in a single issue, a panel even, when he appropriate the Kingpin as DD's main villain. The first several stories Frank drew though were not very good and not the DD we know today.
