Many of us said how generic and Boring Eaton's Legacy art was, and he admits it himself. I give him mad props for it.
I am now a fan of the guy because of his admission to boring art. Now if only guys like Mark Bagley and Daniel Acuna would do the same?CBR:What can you tell us about the style that you're using for "Doom War?" Does the story call for any new artistic or storytelling techniques? Eaton:The best thing that's happened was my time on "X-Men Legacy," and recently, "Wolverine Origins." I love Mike Carey's work, and I learned a lot about telling stories from his scripts. Looking back, I think I let Mike down a little on the art. I think the art on that book was boring compared to some of the other X-Books. "Wolverine Origins" has given me a chance to sit in one place, try and focus on storytelling, and pick more exciting shots. That's something I'm working on. And "Origins" has made it easy. Daniel Way's another good story teller, and Logan's been the best fit for my pencils probably ever. |

Daniel Acuna doesn't need to admit to anything of the sort.

I really liked his art on Legacy. It was competent, clear and told the story well. If that counts as boring, then I'll take boring any day (especially if the Uncanny artists are some of the more "interesting" alternatives...)!

I'm an Eaton fan, even if he is boring. His NEX was underrated.

Nasty?
I'm now a fan of the guys art because of his admission to drawing boring. He just gained a life long fan. More of the boring generic safe non stylized comic book artists should do the same. I would start buying their stuff if they did so. |

Wow, I kinda liked the art on Legacy, but it looks like Joe Franklin was right after all.

I know boring comic book art when I see it. No style at all, just playing it safe. He needs a lesson from Humberto Ramos, Chris Bachalo, and David Lafuente, on how to draw comic books with energy, and unsafe unique style. |
