Ok this is just a random thread about my favorite 'fish-guy' I want to hear other peoples thoughts on him.
What do you think about the changes hes gone through since 'plague of frogs'? Any particular songs that remind you of him? Do you think theres any romantic feelings between him and Liz? Kinda like Pernilla in 'Bones of giants' There needs to be more Abe Threads

I'm thinking maybe some Moby music for Abe..[no pun intended] I will try to get back to you on that one.Abe to me has always come across as a "quiet achiever" type...Relationship wise I thought of Liz,' it is interesting considering the elemental nature involved of fire and water.Having said that I don't see him being constrained to any one romantic involvement.... .......Now for Hellboy, [in the question of songs] Fat Boy Slim's "Right here Right now" it's got that action feel...

For music I'm thinking Abe to be one of the classics. Tsjaikovski, Rachmaninov, Public Enemy or Neil Young, possibly early Godflesh and Swervedriver. Codeine's "Loss Leader" might be something he'd like as well.
Someone started another thread on BPRD tunes. And the "Music Music Music-thread" will be a favorite of first Mod JNapper, so that's not nothing either .I like Abe's backstory, as I like all BPRD-members origins, being so intricate and real. Allowing for mystery, yet seeming a whole lot more deep than most Superhero continuities. Abe seeming such a reflective person, like there'd be large bodies of water going on behind them fish-eyes of his, I feel to have taken any stumblings of his onto his history very easily if not almost for granted, as it all seems so fitting or fluent with him. Any romantic deliberations I hesitate to delve into, as such seems almost dangerously slippery, to many a devoted boyish heart. But I feel Abe for one won't be made of stone, in any capacity.

Abe is learning what it means to be a kick-ass leader of men. He ain't got time for the ladies!

Abe is great.
I don't see him as much of a ladies on the mind kind of guy and certainly not with Liz. I hope not with Liz. What I really like about Abe is that he's collected. He's an introvert in almost every sense of the word. He doesn't panic on the outside the way most of us would or even most of them do in the books. I do feel Abe has been defeated and is trying to rebuild himself but doesn't know how. He's missing something. I think as much as Roger needed Hellboy, Abe did as well. I think that's why he's been a bit more risky, for example trying to take people hostage and using force even against his better judgement. He's the most tragic of the entire crew, in my mind, and will probably out live everyone. I hope one day he finds a nice mermaid and rebuilds (what I assume is to come,) Atlantis. |

Everytime I think of Abe now I can't help but recall his drunken sing-a-long with Hellboy during the latest movie. Can't remember the name of the song, but this really stuck with me.
As far as the character in the comic goes, not much has gone on with him lately, so I'm hesitant to say anything. Looking forward to his future adventures and am hoping he is further utilized and fleshed out. |

I agree with Neil. I want to see Abe become a little more than he has been lately, fleshed out in real time and not only in stories that have taken place in the past. Garden of Souls was aMAZing! I'm sure we'll see him begin to develop again soon.
