I can't stand reading a title with a character in it that is just in the way. I gave him some slack from New Avengers #1 but by pre-Civil War, I stopped buying anything with Cage in it, in protest. If Cage was an artist, he'd be Chris Bachalo....an artist I refuse to buy, no matter if it is my favorite characters. I love Bucky Barnes but it pisses me off I can't follow him in NA and have to settle for NA on wikipedia.org. Cage is a turd in the punchbowl.
That said. If you think it's time to move Cage to an non-Avenger book or die altogther or just that all writers forget who Cage is in the first place then please vote yes.

Cage's best days are when he was teaming up with Iron Fist, whether in the 70s/80s or in the last Heroes For hire book.
That he got shoehorned into an Avengers book is due to Quesada telling Bendis he could give Marvel comics a facial (NOT the Avon type) any time Brian wanted to. So Bendis wrecked the real Avengers and put together his New Avengers gathering of his faves. |

Why don't you like him? What do you mean he's "in the way"? Just curious, because I've been enjoying is presence in New Avengers.

Alias, Daredevil and New Avengers made me appreciate Luke Cage(all written by Bendis).
So no. But since Marvel knows it can't cater to one reader, they have made Mighty Avengers and the Initiative titles available for readers who wish to read about other characters. |

He's in the way because I have no desire to read his story in any form. If Marvel wants to stick a black guy in the team at least make it a fun read. Cage just shows up in street close when everyone comes to work in uniform. Why's Cage special? Then pulls a mooch and moves in on Bucky's pad. War Machine, Falcon, a member of Wakandan special forces, hell 3-D Man would be good or Gauntlet.
I say bring Northstar into the fold and give Logan and Cage pink slips.

Other than the fact that he wears street clothes in battle why don't you like him? You say he's in the way, but its not like he's just background character on the team. He's been the focus many times, was even the leader at one point and they all look up to him. He also wasn't shoehorned in there cause they needed a black guy. Bendis has a genuine love for the character and wanted him there. Simple as that. You say he just mooches off of Bucky? Newsflash. They all live there, Bucky was the one who invited them all there in the first place. There's gotta be some other reason for the Cage dislike, what else is there? |

No Way. I love Cage. New Avengers 22 was one of the best books I've read in the last 5 years. The guy is an awesome leader and the heart of one of the best teams in the Marvel Universe. He's also the most Bankable African American character in the Marvel Universe.
Cage Forever.

Read Power Man & Iron Fist my Jo Duffy and Jim Owsley. Now that's some good Cage.

Personally, I really don't think Luke has been thriving with the Avengers. Though I have to say I feel the same way with Iron Fist. I believe the two characters are much better when placed in grittier street level scenarios like a series similar to Marvel Knights. If Luke and Danny restarted Heroes For Hire, I would be absolutely ecstatic! Though, I think Marvel is going to keep Luke on the New Avengers for a while, considering he is one of the few African American heroes currently serving on an Avengers team.

Cage would have been fine if he'd been brought up to the Avengers level, where the common thing is huge world threatning storylines and all out action. Instead, he drug the Avengers down to his level of slow paced street drama.
Guy couldn't even been bothered to put on something halfway resembling a costume. That alone shos me he isn't Avengers material.
