Default X-men: Forever #11 (aka 'X-Men: Corrections') incl. SPOILERS

Oh Claremont, my sweet tzarina, we finally hear your sweet confession. Je te presente:

Here Claremont, through the voice of the exceptionally exquisite Natalia Romanoff, reminds us that Colossus had a relationship with the child known as Kitty Pryde aka the Claw Girl in Sage's stolen undergarments. So there you go, we have a government representative written by THE definitive X-writer showing us that Colossus was well and truly a pedophile, also owning up to producing fictive child porn in the 80s. Well done, Claremont.

The rest of the issue? Tsk. It centres around CC's moronic pairing of the two most prominent Asian characters he has (his artist won't let him use Jubilee!) at his finger tips and it seems mostly so that he can make cringe worthy word play using words like 'tzarina'. The result is that Black Widow comes off as verbose and bland, until she encounters Kitty and then CC throws childish and territorial into the mix as Natalia all but urinates on Piotr's leg.

This encounter is framed by Colossus briefly smacking around a red cyborg, the Crimson Dynamo, which is routine and thus it seems hard to mangle but CC gives in to some of his old tics such as the obligatory "Now ... It's my turn!":

We also have brief snapshots to other locales, one of which is the only interesting thing in the issue. We see little Illyana being taken into a limo by a shady dude and a snapshot of the manor where Rogue and Sabretooth start bashing each other up over dirty dishes (Oh, CC ... what happened to you?).

That's pretty much it. Oh, and we have the new costumes plus Jean is the leader of the X-men now that Scott has been phased out of the book to deal with what an alcoholic Xavier and his bff Nick Fury call 'Scott's shame'.

So what does that mean? Oh yes, the Nate reveal from last issue is totally 'real'. I guess that shoots down the mind control theory, guys!

I should also say that the art really does not compare to the last issue as it makes Jean look like she's having a series of ongoing botched nose jobs from panel to panel. Not impressed, Grummett.

PATIENT DIAGNOSIS:

C - Not overly recommended.

And the preview looked so good.

Instead we get...
  • Kitty Pryde coming to the rescue of her confirmed molester.
  • Sabretooth's eyeless arse trying to make sure Rogue gives him no sass, and takes to scrubbin' the griddle?
  • Xavier acting totally in character by doing shots with Nick Fury?
  • Claremont ignoring the story he wrote in X-Factor with baby Nate?
  • Cyclops reacting to Nate as his own "shame"?

That... sounds really rough. Is the count on "My Turn" just the one? Are there any "What the Devils" to go along with it? I ask for my own Claremont comic drinking game.

I took the "shame" thing being about the whole Wolverine/Jean/Nate abandonement thing.

Also. It is normal a jealouse girlfriend calling child to a younger ex-girlfirned. Colossus was not much older than Kitty when he totally jumped on him with the mistletoe bobbytrap.

19-20 on Piotr to 13-14 on Kitty (the time I'm thinking of is from Uncanny #174, or so, when she really, really throws herself at him in Storm's attic, and if she doesn't come up at that moment...)

13's a child, man. Unless you're 13, 14, and 15 as well, maybe it's somewhat less sketchy. But 19, 20? Not good.

She wasnt even a mature 14 year old. She was as bratty, annoying and childish as they come

Flaneur tells me Crimson Dynamo is present, along with Natasha.

He spoke nothing of Darkstar or Ursa Major. But they're so hard to not talk about, right? If they were in there, he'd have thrown that in the summary. Especially with their diehard fans floating about.

Oh, miaow! Sorry WBE, I thought you'd already read the issue, given that you'd drafted a list of bullet-points which thoroughly condemned it. I didn't realise that all you were going on to form this damning portrait was Flaneur's review...

No, the EFFFing Winter Guard is not present. To think I used to like those characters before Azure's heckling. I do love that CC couldn't resist sticking a Rasputin and a Romanov together and didn't care if it was cheesy and contrived. Natasha humping his leg in front of Kitty while they talk about their true "Adult" love may have been too much.

Is Nick Fury actually a permanent cast member in this book? Doesn't the LEADER OF SHIELD have anything better to do than sit around and listen to Xavier whine? I'd also be pounding shots if I had to spend time with the old man. IIRC, it was Mark Miller who brought Fury to the mansion in Ultimate X-Men once SHIELD began funding their operations. Is CC stealing a plot thread from Millar!?

CC's comments on XFan make it very clear he means the Maddie/Nate abandonment.

All of my bullet points are things I'm reacting to from Flanny's review, same as you. I don't recall claiming I had the issue at hand, at any point.

Calm down. I'm allowed to react to the review of a poster I trust, same as you.

Perf. Thank you D@N.
Now I know whether or not to add this to my pull list...at least temporarily.
You're a dish!
