Default Uninspiring piece of work you've seen of all fiction

An important thing that creators, writers, or whoever should do when trying to captivate the audience to their work is entertaining or compelling them so that they feel intrigued in the story. There are those that don't put any spice to what they are doing. For that, they may have a hard time inspiring a viewer's interest. What fictional stories can you say that about?

Dead Irons of Dynamite comics was uninspiring to me. The way the art is drawn, the colors are so much black and white that I have a hard time recognizing who is who. It's hard to distinguish the characters. Then the writing. Oh my goodness. At times the scenes in each chapter don't seem to connect to the other. It wasn't organized. Making it hard to understand where each point in the story was coming from. Dead Irons was lacking a bit of spice. It acts like it's going to be something that will pull you in because of the dark atmosphere, but while at it, isn't fun with the presentation.

I think he's more referring to stuff that just bland or 'blah' rather than stuff that's outright terrible.

In that case I say Dragonball: Evolution.

Even if one didn't think about the source-material it's one of the most unoriginal movies that I've seen in years.

The writing is just so bland and the overall production was the very essence of meh.

Edit: Removed because, upon more careful thought, I don't think it really fits.

Outright terrible stuff is, in fact, rather inspiring.

I'm gonna nominate Stargate Universe. It isn't exactly horrible, it's just sort of..there.

Among my friends Dungeon Siege: In te Name of the King is well regarded as the single most medicore work we've ever seen. It's only even at Uwe's standard level of bad. That at least you can usually hate.

Fair enough. Though, it's a subjective topic anyway, so I'd say the issue is whether or not it inspires anything in you. (And I say that as a major fan of the manga in question.)

Plus, I was just about to say the same thing about another certain manga that also has a lot of fans around here. *coughHSDKcough* >>

Anyway, the most uninspiring thing I've ever seen is The Lost Empire, a Hallmark movie based on the Chinese Monkey King legend. I didn't think it was possible to make that story boring, but they found a way. The actors are terrible, the effects are cheap, and action is terrible, and the whole production was bad in a "My God, when is this going to end?" kind of way - A feeling that was made worse by the fact that it's almost three hours long. oO

I did my best to forget I ever saw it in the first place, which is actually pretty rare for me.

I kind of agree with that, actually. The antagonists just aren't terribly interesting to me, for the most part. And the fictional setting itself could use some more jazz, imo.

From the four episodes I managed to watch, yes it is. It's god-awful, and should be canceled post-haste.

Peter Jackson as a director leaves me feeling this way. I've never particularly enjoyed anything he's made except for "The Frighteners". Yes, LOTR is well made, but too much was altered from the source material, and I'm a purist when it comes to Tolkien's work(Ironically though, I didn't read LOTR until the movies were all out on DVD. I've read everything else by Tolkien dozens of times, however).
