Default WINTER GUARD: Digital Comics Prologue *REVIEW/SPOILERS*

Leirus suggested I make this an actual thread. This is a full-review of the HULK: WINTER GUARD DIGITAL PROLOGUE with features TWO mutants - Darkstar and Ursa Major. I suggest everyone read it online, if you can, because it really is rather cool:
http://marvel.com/digitalcomics/titl...ROLOGUE.2009.1

My Overall Review: A-/B+

Writer: David Gallaher
Artist: Steve Ellis
Story length: 8 pages

The story opens with Darkstar II at the mercy of Presence. He is mad that she is an impostor. He has also made this giant crazy monster out of Igor Drenkov (who was in Hulk #393 and Hulk #1) - anyway - the rest of the Winter Guard is held captive, but Red Guardian escapes, and he pounds Presence into the ground offering to 'reshape his face' - also Presence does something to Darkstar, but I'm not quite sure just what yet - anyway. Darkstar frees the rest of team. Crimson Dynamo (who was just in an issue of the Hulk) gets eaten! Without any other options, Red Guardian orders Darkstar to 'swallow' this crazy monster whole. The whole thing puts a strain on her - but she suceeds and the battle is won! Before the press conference, Red Guardian asks that the government send in a new Crimson Dynamo - and this one is a woman named Galina! Anyway, the story ends with the reflection of Igor Drenkov in Darkstar's eye -- and it's kind of chilling!

The Good:
- Awesome dialogue!
- The art took some getting used to, but it grew on me and fit the story! And it's really exciting stuff!
- Ursa Major is always good!

The Bad:
- WAY too short!

Ooh, how lovely, a full review thread. This prologue sounds fascinating, although I don't think I'm too pleased about the rotating-door policy of the Russian Government - I hope this won't result in too many deaths. I loved the half of the story that I saw; the artwork was great and the dialogue was fun. Can't wait to pick up the full issue in December!

Fun read, I enjoyed it a lot. Although poor Crimson Dynamo The Winter Guard are awesome I'm glad they are getting some spotlight.

I just thought a new thread will be better, as it has enough mutants to fit here...

So The Presence was mad about Darkstar being an imposter? mmm...
Azure, have you been in Russland recently?

I think it was probably a wise idea, although it's sad that UrsaMajor was banned for presenting his views. What kind of dictatorial society are we living in?

I've never been to Russia. I hear it's very nice, though. The Presence is one of the strongest villains in the Marvel Universe, so this is a great way to piss him off and make him lash out at the heroes of the world. He should cause massive amounts of calamitous damage in another country and create a diplomatic incident.
That'd be entertaining, don't you think?

I see Darkstar has learned to swallow, this will be of great help when she goes into Russia's booming adult industry.

Mmm, I dont know, usually Marvel handles this with a fight between heroes, and a team up afterwards.

I got the sensation from the preview, that the presence had somehow transform Sasha into the original Darkstar. But... It is that a bodyswap or has he bring her back entirely? Is that something he could even do? Crap, I know next to nothing about him. But because of your shameless Darkstar propaganda, now I kind of want her back...

(And yes, when drunk I mix happily spanish words in my posts... is propaganda an international word or not? )

He's got this crazy control of things on the subatomic level ...
He can do a lot of things.

As for what he did to Darkstar.... read the book.
