I was watching this thing with Charles C.K. where he talks about someone yelling at him "Go suck a bag of dicks!" and it made me think about times where I've heard or seen online where people have used insults that are so bizarre that you are too busy to trying to make sense of what they mean to actually feel insulted.

One that I used to hear way back was "Your mother wears army boots!" I'm thinking, are you suggesting that she used to be in the army? That her choice in clothing is practical rather than fashionable? What?

I'd guess they were trying to imply that she was "Butch" and that was bad somehow.

My reaction to that one would just be: Yes, she does sometimes. And?

I think "Your mother wears army boots" goes back to the days of "camp followers", implying that she took her pay for servicing soldiers by accepting boots. Meaning she was so undiscriminating that she would service poor soldiers who could only give her their boots.

That's just a guess.

One of the funniest insults I got happened last night on CBR. I even had to chuckle at it. "Continue to look at ECW thru rose colored glasses and nothing being better......."

I had to chuckle. I mean why not rip me for reading comics on this comic book forum. My handle should say it all. In the end...ECW rules all. It will continue to rule. Old ECW forever !

I was reading BleedingCool's forums recently, and saw someone call Don Murphy a "shitwhistle."

And I kind of go back & forth between "Huh?" and "That's awesome!" on that one.

I was there when he came on. It suprised me at 1st he was a famous Hollywood producer who came in so angry with a chip on his shoulder and started a fight on the thread. He had some bad dealings with Alan Moore , but after awhile people were like ... "Jeeze man , LOEG sucked...even Moore liking it wouldn't have changed it."

Someone must have told him he wasn't helping his reputation. So he left after awhile. Wild...

I never got the Army boots one either.

Speaking of army, from the movie platoon "cheesedick" what is that suppose to mean? that it's tasty? that it smells like cheese? why would you want to smell his dick to begin with?

That does make sense, though camp followers still exist, though nowadays there called things like "army warts". Course it could just be a Butch suggestion and were thinking to much into it.

Personally I think a woman in uniform is pretty hot.

yeah. i think it harkens back to the days when women were supposed to be 'domesticated' and not being 'manly'. It probably came as an insult from the 50's or so, you know, the unrealistic, idealistic times of the US.

or maybe it's something from overseas, Britain, maybe? I think a lot of these insults need historical perspective, they don't always make sense when times change.

Actually, I thought it could also involve a violation of the eye socket, your way doesn't sound AS bad.

My favorite, "Huh?" of all time was in the movie Ghostbusters where the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man shows up and Venkman just goes, "Mother Pus-Bucket..." That one always baffled me, but it sounds pretty gross.

At one point, I called someone a f***-snake. It worked, but when I think back, I don't know what exactly I was doing. Point got across, in any event.
