Default Die Hard & Lethal Weapon: The Helm's Deep Challenge

John McClane, Roger Murtaugh, and Martin Riggs replace Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas at the battle of Helm's Deep (movie version).

Scenario A: The three cops are armed with their standard weapons and a one-day supply of ammunition.

Scenario B: The three cops are forced to make do with standard Middle-earth weapons issued from King Théoden's armory.

How do things turn out?

The pistols help, but if that's all they have I don't think they can turn the tide alone. They'll be waiting for Erkenbrand and Gandalf.

Ugh, wait. This is the movie version. They'll be waiting for Gandalf and Éomer.

Wow. Not as well. None of them are even remotely as skilled as the three amigos when it comes to using melee weapons. Given what those three accomplished, I suspect Gandalf and Co. show up just in time to watch the Uruk-hai burn the place down.

Maybe I should have spotted Riggs the sniper rifle he used in the first movie.

Give him that and the MP5, and with sufficient ammo he'll be dishing out damage on the orcish hordes at a distance of a kilometer, plus covering entire sections of the wall himself with the SMG.

This would make a serious difference.

I was amazed that you were being so cruel to Riggs, Murtaugh, and McClane.

Well, we know that, whatever happens, McClane will survive.

He'll be a bloody mess, but he will still be alive.

i tend to think they get pasted pretty hard in both scenarios, however in scenario A) if you spot them MP5's and sniper rifles with virtually unlimited ammo like sharp suggested, they actually would be more useful than los tres amigos.

scenario B) i give sam, frodo, and pippin odds over the 3 stooges

May I ask how much more durable the Urak Hai are then humans? The three action stars have exceptional fighting and endurance skills.

The movie Uruk-hai wore plate and chain armor and seemed a fair bit tougher and stronger than humans.

In the second instance, the three action movie stars are hampered by a complete lack of experience with fighting in heavy armor with swords in a pitched battle.

Deleted cause I wrote something dumb. (Gordon did not say they were on their own, just replacing the characters as part of the defenders.)

A huge part of siege warfare on the defense side is defending/pushing back all the attack ladders and towers and defending pinch points when falling back. Such that your snipers can pick off the troops from the walls and use murderholes, fire pits, burning oil etc. These three, even with bigger guns (P-90s,M60,SAWs) would have a hard time in the helms deep defense because the orcs would bring about 5 ladders and flank the defenders hard.
True, but remember that the orcs have never faced anything remotely like modern small-arms fire before. That may have at least some impact on their morale, cause a bit of confusion.\

Edit-I didn't think your reply was dumb at all, even with the misunderstanding.

You are right. I didn't read your OP correctly. I was trying to figure out if they could solo it, which is not what this rumble is about.

They would be a huge benefit. McClaine could defend and entire ladder egress almost by himself mostly cause of his durability. Murtoch would be a great morale booster. Riggs would spot the crazy orc sapper, probably with enough time to put him down (takes one to know one kinda thing)

Murtaugh threatens to make the Uruk-Hai eat his wife's cooking.

Within minutes the siege is over.
