Default Anyone else already started their Christmas shopping?

I bought a couple of early Christmas gifts already but I've started buying the bigger things.

I got more Christmas lights for the tree. They're very small LED lights but they're very bright for their size plus the sets are massive. I also picked up a load of little glittery snowy polar bears to hand on the tree. They're sooooo cute!

I bought my parents a large Royal Doulton vase, which is purple with a bubble like effect on the surface. They were really happy with it but they are huge glassware and crystal fans so it was almost a certainty they would like it.

I couldn't help but buy myself a really nice Hilfiger sweater which was half price in one of the big department stores.

I'm already planning Christmas dinner and it looks like roast beef will be on the menu as it is about 90% of the time. We'll also be getting a white chocolate cake with a fruit filling for dessert.

I was thinking about buying a hi-fi for my parents as their main gift but they would probably think it was for me as I'm the main music fan at home. They're really awkward when you buy them stuff as they generally try to pay you for anything that you buy for them.

I can't think of many things that they would really like that they either haven't got already or are too expensive anyway.

We have a major town fair thing in my area in September that's called the Big E which usually has an attendance of almost 1 million people that I usually hit up and nab an early gift or two. So I have one or two gifts so far. I also have some planned gifts that I haven't purchased it.

The past few years I've been using part of my tax returns in March and then some of my vacation pay from July to budget most of my Christmas purchases. So at this time I pretty much have my budget in place so that I should few if any bills hanging over my head due to gift giving.

Purchased one toy for my two year old daughter so far, and got my 6 year old her bike.

Looked at a bunch of stuff in stores and on the net though!

I actually believe we COULD finish all our shopping this month, if we try.

Started????

I buy thruout the year, as I see things.

so I already have gifts for:

My Partner (8 gifts already, some big, some smaller).

My Mom and Dad

My Brother & Sister in Law

My best friend.

I still need to buy:

2-3 more for my Partner (Including at least one thing he's asking for -- everything else are things I've bought that he doesn't know he wants)

1 for my best friend's wife
1 for my best friend's son
1 for another friend and her husband
1 secret santa for work (but I dont' know who I'm assigned yet, so can't pre-buy that).

if if makes you feel any better, I'm a Planner (Production Planner), so it's normal for me to have things planned out WAY in advance. My Partner, Nick, hasn't bought a single thing yet, and has asked me for a list of things I would like (and he'll end up buying everything on the list -- he always does).

oh wait. .that's not true. . he bought me KISS tickets, and is going with me. That concert is 12/4, so he kinda HAD to buy them and give them to me early to ensure I didn't go out and get them myself.

I mentioned that I had thought about buying another mobile phone and my Dad offered to buy me a mid range Nokia that I had a look at but it wasn't really what I was looking for as it wasn't an awful lot better than the model I bought last Christmas and neither were any of the mid range models.

I was counting that I'd probably have to spend at least £200 to get something halfway decent but I still want an iPhone as I own an iPod Touch (away for repair at the moment because I dropped it) and I love those so having the phone and portable internet functions would be brilliant. The top of the range iPhone 3GS costs an eye watering £538 on pay as you go (I don't like contracts and wouldn't get a contract phone as my phone costs are low but I use the internet while I'm travelling so I need a 3G phone with good internet and media functions.

Yep, trying to beat the Christmas rush.

Unfortunately I seem to have failed as it apparently started in October! O_O

No, but I don't have a huge amount to buy and I don't know what people want. I don't wait until the last minute unless it is definitely safe though.

I was just thinking that I should start. I had bought a Christmas present for my nephew, but I've decided to hold off until his birthday, since it is the awesomest gift ever, and I don't want to make Santa look bad.

I'm nearly done with my shopping ... Kris is easy to buy stuff for! The real problem is figuring out where to hide it! So I have all the stuff hidden in another location far from home!

Yeah, I've picked up a couple of iRiver MP3 players for the kids. Now I need to start filling them with music so they won't be bugging me to do it on Xmas Day.
