I really liked Rise of the Imperfects, though the story mode and storyline sucked hardcore.

G-nome for PC. It had a really bad review but I enjoyed it. Same with Kane & Lynch and another game that had a bad review from IGN or OXM.

Legend of Dragoon was fun. Although it was weird that you could only really gain levels from fighting bosses, as regular enemies gave you hardly any experience.
The Legend of Zelda II seems to get more hatred than the original Legend of Zelda, but I don't get it. The original is incredibly boring, while the second is an odd but engaging platform/RPG hybrid.

I'll add these games: Legend of Legia (but not the sequel). The Dynasty Warriors series (Koei's main money maker), and all of its derivatives.

Final Fight: Streetwise. It was a crappy beat-em-up and an even crapper story and uneven voice-acting but I love it for some reason. I played through it three times.

Advent Rising. I absolutely loved that game, and was absolutely baffled as to why it failed. I still am, actually - it was too short, but so are 99% of modern games. It's only other real problem was the targeting system, which was iffy at best, but hardly enough to earn all the hate.

probably donkey kong jungle beat. awesome sidescroller with a unique control scheme, one of the best original gc games.
some HUGELY underrated favorites of mine would be red dead revolver, psi-ops, and odin sphere. i doubt anyone that's played any of those games would hate them. i enjoyed the original manhunt, which was hit or miss with most people, but it spawned a sequel so i guess it couldn't have been hated that bad... |

Where do I start? To its credit, the graphics in that game are amazing [for its time]. I was absolutely blown away with what they were able to accomplish compared to its predecessors.
First and foremost, I hated the characters. The main character Tidus was an annoying "happy-go-lucky" type that always had some stupid expression on his face. His voice was similarly annoying. And the fact that his name was pronounced TEE-dus, rather than TY-dus like I originally assumed, didn't help make him any more likable to me. Wakka was also annoying but in other ways. He came off as a big dumb foreigner who was way too "touchy-feely" when it came to Tidus. Whenever there was a cutscene with the two of them, I always cringed at the suspicion there was more implied with those two. Yuna would have been okay but her voice actress would....put awkward.....pauses.....in the middle.....of sentences that....otherwise would have.....been said normally. Plus she as an extreme downer. There were many times I would've wish one of her teammates would slap the hell out of her. Her depression combined with the awkward pauses in her speaking really bothered me. And not in a way that made me care about her, but in a way that made me think "is she gonna be like this the entire game, and if not, how much longer do I have to put up with this?" Kimahri and Lulu were pretty cool, but played second fiddle to the other three characters mentioned. Yes, they did get some dedicated storytime but nothing that added to the overall story/plot of the game. Rikki was decent enough too but the rest of her family felt generic and uninteresting (worst Cid ever). I felt like they were trying too hard to make Auron seem badass. I found it hard to find him badass with his limp hand dangling out of his sleeve held up against his chest. Seymour was pathetic as a villain. He didn't feel very threatening or interesting. I simply didn't care about him. Okay, Sin was pretty badass but he was more of a force-of-nature than a real nemesis-type villain for our heroes to interact with. Secondly, I hated the clothing style. That was a major problem I also had with Seymour. He just looked too ridiculous to take seriously. Again, all the characters besides Lulu and Kimahri looked absolutely silly in their flamboyant outfits. Combined with their annoying personality and voices, there just wasn't much left to TRY to like. If you can't care for the main characters then the rest of the enjoyment falls apart. Also in previous games, I enjoyed exploring the world map and discovering all kinds of interesting locations and hidden areas. FFX was extremely linear in terms of location layouts. Even when you eventually got the ship, you simply just pick and choose locations you already been to and then re-run through the linear layouts. Lame. FF12 is the same way. I don't care for that. Those are just a few things I remembers strongly disliking and even (in the case of the characters themselves) hating. It's been a while since I've played the game since I no longer own it--its actually the only FF game I've ever sold--so its hard to remember everything about it. I did complete it once and tried to give it another go-around which resulted in me realizing it was a game I didn't wish to keep. Oh yeah, after all the ingame hype of Tidus' father's reputation I found actually meeting him completely disappointing. Again, his outfit (shirtless with a bandana) didn't help. |

Almost every criticism you make of 10 can be made of 9. Happy go lucky lead, bad outfits, bad dialogue, big dumb foreigner, useless Cid.

There's also the third Blair Witch game which had terrible graphics, (compared to the first one) and bad voice over. The second game had bad graphics too. Other than that, I still liked it. Haven't exactly played the second one. (I installed the demo and haven't traveled to the woods yet)
