Default Inigo Montoya and Dread Pirate Roberts (Wesley) vs. movie Achilles and movie Maximus

Team Princess Bride vs. Team Quasi-Historically-Faithful Ancient World Epic

Each team composed of a fierce, vengeance-seeking Spaniard and a suave, blond, pretty-boy fighting machine myth!

Fight #1:
Straight-up sword fight using their standard swords. Each fighter gets two swords to either use at once or for keeping a spare in reserve. No armor, no shields. Wesley gets his black mask.

Fight #2:
Same as before, but Team Quasi-Historically-Faithful Ancient World Epic gets their body armor, helmets, shields, and one spear each. Team Princess Bride gains Fezzik (Andre the Giant) who has a magic backpack containing infinite rocks sized just the way he likes 'em. And you know, he doesn't have to miss...
Wesley still has his black mask.

Which team comes out on top?

Brad Pitt Achilles from the Troy movie? They never explicitly said. My interpretation is that he was mortal. He was a great fighter but didn't have the divine invulnerability that the mythic Achilles had.

He was a really awesome fighter(and a raging dick), that's pretty much it.

I liked Troy for that reason, he wasn't mystical, he was just that damn good. Like a Trojan Lu Bu.

You really don't want to do that heroic jump that achilles does against two swordsmen that know Agrippa.

Indigo and DPR have way better teamwork (maximus is a great commander, but you really think achilles would follow orders).

and quite frankly fezzik is just overkill.

Since we only use feats and we draw on their movies for that sources. It makes sense that they can only use dialogues from their movies. Which would be fun.

Maxmus and Inigo Montoya introduction to each other.

Inigo Montoya: Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.

Fezzik: *To Inigo regarding the man with the helmet on* You be careful. People in masks cannot be trusted.

Maxmus: *Removes helmet and turns around to face his foes* My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next. *Fezzik trembles in disbelief*.

Inigo Montoya: *Drawing his sword* You seem a decent fellow... I hate to kill you.

I keep imagining Fezzik sitting on Achillies trying to think of something that rhymes on Iliad.

If it was 1 of the 2 Princess Bride fighters then this could probably be fairly balanced.

In scenario 1, Maximus is a non factor. After making short work of the Spaniard, I & W then do rock/paper/scissors to decide who fights Achilles. Even bloodlusted I can't see two such gentlemen gang up on a single opponent. Achilles still dies regardless.

In #2 Fezzik goes biblical on their sorry behinds.

Maximus wasn't that good(Although, I could see him allowing one of them to stab him, then impale himself further on the blade to take out his opponent before dying), and Achilles's fighting style relied on his shield a lot.

So the winners are pretty obvious.

Huh, I actually thought a lot of people were going to consider it too much in favor of the skirt-wearing team...not that I mind, since I really like the Princess Bride guys.

Just want to stick up for Maximus though -- I think he had some decent feats. In the winter forest scene where he was to be executed secretly, he was a manacled prisoner and yet easily took out three Praetorian guards.
Guard 1: Maximus caught the blade in his manacled hands as it was descending toward his neck from above and behind him (while he was on his knees!), and made short work of him
Guard 2: M took him out with a thrown sword (and those swords are not meant for throwing)
Guard 3: one-shotted him while he was on the ground and the other on horseback

Not saying these are necessarily enough to make him a match for the members of Team PB, but I thought it merited mention that he wasn't just a great commander, he could bring the pain too. ("To the pain!")

Wesley & Inigo can maintain an intelligent conversation and compare notes while fighting a death match.

Achilles and Maximus are extremely skilled but a bit too realistic for these guys.
