Default What do you do with your comics after a while?

Curious. What do you do with your comics after a while, especially if you read a lot of series?

Do you simply trash them after a while (say a year)? Maybe keep the issues that really stand out or you know for sure you'll read over again due to a certain scene)? If you get a bad arc do you want or trash that right away?

Or do you have a basement, closet, or room full of boxes of comics? Do you keep them just to keep them (see it as a waste of money to trash them)? Or do you actually reread them? Enough to keep them around?

Or do you attempt to resell them later on? Or let others read them?

I sort of dislike trashing them due to their cost (I hate wasting money) but I've been tossing a number of old magazines lately and finding that isn't so much of an issue. Granted some of these mags are old and some were from a few months ago and I was sure I wouldn't be reading them again. I figure if I ever started getting single issues again I might keep them for a about a year or so or maybe until the writing team changes and then decide if it's something I'll read again. If not then toss them.

Most of us keep the monthlies in boxes and stored some place in our home. If someone doesn't want to keep their collection, they wind up selling them via E-bay or to comic stores or the like. Very few people outright throw them in the trash these days. Otherwise, you're just better off getting trades.

I reread my comics all the time. I keep them on shelves.

Bag, board, longbox, re-read from time to time. Trades are on a shelf.

There is no freaking way I'd throw them out. Three to four bucks a pop, not exactly disposable anymore. Plus, like I said, I never know when I'll want to re-read them.

Honestly, I've been thinking about throwing out some of my older stuff. I think they literally have more value as a recycleable than if I were to sell them on eBay or something.

I use old comics to light my contraband cuban cigars.

Sell them. And usually if I like something a lot, I'll sell the comics and buy the trade to keep on my shelves.

I keep them and will look over them now and again for enjoyment,
then again I'm quite new to comics and don't have that much yet,
kinda worried about when they will eventually not fit in my bookshelf.

You would!!!!! lol

I, like others, bag board and store them in long boxes in the basement on pallets just in case. I want to get fire-proof cabinets to store them in the future (I think Gene Simmons or Sebastian Bach stores their comics that way and I thought the idea was genius). I definitely go and re-read my comics, so they often end up in my room (while I am fully clothed ). If its a storyline I really, really like or something I didn't read (prior to my start in comics or something that is recommended by a friend) I will buy the trade and they are on a bookshelf in my room or arranged on a dresser standing up.

I have never thrown a comic away in my entire life...I have given them away to people to hopefully spark their love of comics (always telling them that if they don't like/want it they can return it to me). I hated reading as a kid until I discovered comics...comic books started my lifetime of enjoying reading and i tell people that all the time, especially when they say comics are bad for kids and such (granted todays mainstream comics are adult oriented but DC and Marvel have a kids line).

If you're into recycling, yeah. But there are people out there who could benefit, especially if they don't have a particular comic that you do.
