CRAP! I was kind of hoping to see him back. Not interested on this new Azrael. Oh well. Atleast it wasn't Bruce who turned out to be dead.

Ha this is what I thought when I saw the thread title

Forgive me if I'm not too heartbroken about Jean Paul

This means the new Azrael can move ahead without incessant speculation on the fate of JP. Clears the waters you could say.

So? We got Aquaman and Martian Manhunter kickin' it around too. Who expects them to stay dead?

Besides, just offhand, weren't there at least two other dead Azreal-ish guys out there?

I swear I hope Blackest Night ends in a fashion where all those who are Black Lanterns like evaporate into nothingness so that they just can't be resurrected ever again.

Expected him being dead.

Anyway I enjoyed the Scarecrow cameo.

Well I guess Jean Paul is officially in the running for worst death ever now that his death has actually been confirmed years after the fact.

Why worse death ever? I don't understand.

Personally, I think this makes sense. Since they have decided that nobody but Denny O'Neil should write Jean Paul and he's retired, there's no point maintaining the uncertainty.

The only complaint I have about Azraels death is that it seemed rushed. Otherwise, they had to create a special weapon just to kill him... I think that's pretty awesome.

Well O'Neil did come out of retirement to write that two parter story.
And of course Quesada still wants a shot at writing him. Not that it's going to happen.

People should be happy...Jean Paul Valley, Azrael, is back!

He was disillusioned by the Order of St Dumas, so he found a new order to join, The Black Lantern Corps.

I thought that in the new Azrael book we could see him, and crear out what happened in the end of JP's book. Oh well. Is there any Superboy to punch a wall anywhere?

So much for "JPV lives!!!"

On the other hand, I love what Scarecrow says to JPV.
