Default If it weren't for family...

Okay this is more of a de-stressing post for me but I have to share. Last Monday I bought a netbook off the internet. It was to be shipped to me by Friday. I was given a tracking number and I kept watch over it. Friday came and it wasn't here. I checked the tracking and it said it had been delivered. I called my neighbors and checked all the doors no package. My grandmother and uncle were home the entire time and they didn't see a truck. So I called in a claim with Fedex.

My aunt that lives behind me is notorious for stealing stuff so I double checked with my uncle (I have three uncles so I will try to keep them from getting confusing) and she swore to not seeing it. The fed ex guy came by the house this morning to follow up on my claim. He said it was delivered Thursday. A woman with a maroon car was blocking the drive and doing yard work. She refused to move for him and swore to be related to us. She took the package and since his thing said no signature required he didn't make her sign anything. This describes my aunt to a T. She's crazy, counts trees, leaves, obsessed with doing yard work, and keeping people from going up our driveway. I was at work at the time so I didn't speak to him but he promised to go to my aunts house to get the package and left his contact info and name if I needed to file a police report with the relative at my house. My grandmother and uncle (same one with my grandmother Friday) were coming home at the time and met them in the road and spoke to the Fedex guy also. Fedex guy was worried and reported no answer at the house.

My family contacts my other uncle (aunt is still swearing she didn't have it a little to hard at this point), he said he was in the bathroom and didn't see the fedex guy but will look around the house. He couldn't find the package. My aunt was denying being there thursday but when granny said she saw her at the road with the leaf blower and her car blocking the drive she couldn't. Grandma didn't see the truck but she recalled my aunt stopping driving the car back to her house and then going back to the road.

My uncle (the one married to crazy woman) then offered to pay me the money it cost to get the laptop. See my aunt burnt his house down last year (that's another story) and she's still on probation for that. He must love her because he paid for her to stay out of jail and took a plea deal for her to be on probation. So if she has any negative contact with the police she'll be violated on the probation and will go to jail for two years. Since my next step was to go to the police, because she was still saying she didn't take the package and fedex guy didn't get a signature, this would be called a negative contact with the police since they'd have to interview her for theft. He wanted to keep her out of jail and said it would be cheaper to just pay me the money for the netbook then to pay court fines and jail costs. She was pissed and yelling at him for offering the money but he didn't care. I was speaking to him over the phone at the time and could hear her complaining we were blaming her and she didn't have it.

Well apparently while he was in the shower it magically appeared on the back porch of their house. She told him she was walking the dog and saw something behind the house and told him to check it. The netbook was out of the box and the packing slip was missing but everything else was there. He told me about it being found and took it to my grandmother. I honestly think he believed she didn't have it. My uncle wouldn't have taken it but I don't put it past my aunt to take it and try to blame it on others. Which she is...

They're trying to blame the fedex guys saying that they never gave it to my aunt and put it back there when they came up to the house and neither my aunt or uncle saw them. Well I' not pressing the issue too much because I got the netbook and after checking it out, it was fine. My grandmother believes my aunt tried to steal it and would have pawned it if given the time but my grandmother is old and doesn't want to deal with the family argument on accusing my aunt of stealing it. I don't know why I mean this is old hat for us but I'm abiding by it and letting the issue lie. But I was also at work for almost all of it. If it weren't for my family I think I'd actually have to watch Jerry Springer instead of live it.

Wow. That is kind of crazy. But not surprising since there's a few black sheep in every family...
Glad you got your netbook back!

My family's full of them. I swear I don't need to watch soaps. I just call my relatives.

I disowned a cousin for stealing $30 from me.

if I could've put him in jail for it, I would've.

if you're gonna steal from me, you're not family, you're a common fucking thief, and I don't care what happens to you.

and if I have the FedEx Guy's testimony, it's an open-and-shut deal. All it would take to put your aunt away is for him to point her out in open court.

I think the logical reaction to this is:

If possible, have your future shipments sent to a friend or maybe even to your work place.

Yeah I'll send my next package from the toy party to you Bert. I don't know if she stole that one or the woman just pocketed my money from that incident after the whole laptop deal.

My respects to anyone with crazy/selfish relatives.

I have little contact with cuzzins, aunts, uncles, etc., so I tend to not get any drama shit from that sector.

I'm the other way around.

I see my cousins every day to the point that i consider them siblings.

They aren't crazy though.

Maybe a post office box at the post office might help? I think I had one for like $45 a year but my memory is fading. And I'm pretty sure the post office keeps anything too big for the P.O. Box and sends you a note to come get it.

I've had three people offer to let my packages go to their place.... not including Bert who is waiting for wierd mail. Since I can't afford the constant monthly payment of a PO Box for something that only happens to packages I'm going to go with that option. We have a large metal box that's welded shut with only a small slot for mail. To open it you need a special key and I feel sorry for anyone who tries to knock it down or get into it. It would do more damage to them or then box. My cousin's boyfriend works at an iron works factory made it for us specially so we never worry about the letters. Too bad he couldn't have made the tank like mail box with an opening big enough for packages.
