Very cool preview.

This is also in the backs of some DC comics that shipped this week.

Lovely art.

Batman with guns!

About time.

Excuse my lack of knowledge, but is it the first time we get to see Batman using guns?

this whole idea looks absolutely awesome...my tastes have definitely changed because 10 years ago i wouldn't even give this a look, now i cannot wait...

wish jg jones could have been trusted enough to do this whole book, the few shots he had of batman in FC were awesome and made him look extremelly human, something i think would benefit this idea...

I hope Batman is Batman and not the Shadow or the Spider dressed as Batman.

Aside from my many issues with Batman using guns, does anyone else find the art really out of place with the story? Phil Noto's a great artist, but he's way too cartoony for what's supposed to be a pretty pulpy tale.

Yes and no. Batman actually used guns in his very first appearances in 1939, and this book is a reinventing of that pulp period he came out of. The popular heroes back then were Doc Savage, Shadow etc, and they were a big influence on the creation of Batman. The guns were quickly dropped but there's been the odd story now and then where he either uses them for a reason (a rifle to shoot a grappling line, a handgun to kill an evil god) or in Elseworlds where the writers just want to be different.

I'm wondering the same thing. Given everything we've seen/read so far, I can't help but think we're going to get somebody that falls in the middle between Batman and the Shadow. Someplace, admittedly, that isn't too far a journey for either character.

Otherwise, I'm really liking Noto's work here. I'm really looking forward to this.

The premise is cool, but I'm not that impressed with art. It's pretty good, but I think there's other artists who would have suited this book better.

The art looks ok, not real bad or real good. I love Azzarello. I can't wait.
