Default Shane McMahon quits the WWE.

The following has been posted on WWE.com:

STAMFORD, CT – Shane McMahon, Executive Vice President of Global Media, announced today he has tendered his resignation effective January 1, 2010.

Shane stated, “It has been an incredible experience to help build WWE® into a global phenomenon. However, having been associated with this organization for the majority of my life, I feel this is the opportune time in my career to pursue outside ventures.”

“Even though I am personally saddened by Shane’s decision to leave the company, I am proud of the enormous contributions he has made. He will unquestionably bring passion, commitment and extensive business experience to any endeavor he pursues,” said Vince McMahon, WWE Chairman and CEO.
For years people wondered how Shane McMahon would fit into the WWE structure once his father Vince McMahon retired. With Linda running for state Senate and gone from the company as well , it seems like Stephanie and HHH will get the company once Vince does retire.

There was reports Shane was more of a diplomat backstage and would listen to the guys more than Vince would. He'd also try his hardest if he felt someone needed a push . Like he did for Test and Kurt Angle. Nearly killing himself in ring to get them over .

Also reports were Shane liked MMA and wanted to make the company try and get into the MMA industry. Plus its said he was the one responsible for getting Floyd Mayweather and the Big Show Wrestlemania 24 PPV match done. That he helped get that deal done.

In his younger days before Shano Mac married , a rumor was him and Raven (Scott Levy) would party togethor. I believe Raven mentioned it once , that the 2 were becoming close and would do that on the road. Vince found out and was not happy and had Levy fired. So he could get Shane away from that.

In the end its a loss though. Shane seemed like the level headed one there backstage. Good luck Shano . Hate to see ya go.

That's a shame, but in the big scheme of things it was always going to be Steph and HHH who were going to take over.

I always liked Shane. You always hear stories about the offspring of the owner trying to make good with the workers but with Shane you got to see it week in and week out. He put his body, his life on the line countless times putting on better matches than he had any business making.

He did his time, he paid his dues and he became an entertaining performer. It's a testament to his work ethic and his skills that when you hear 'Here Comes the Money' pipe up on the Titantron you know you're in for a hell of a fight.

I don't know if anyone else is in the same boat with me but whenever a McMahon is on my screen I get a bit pissed and my hand starts to go for the remote. Whether it's Mrs. Hearst Hemlsey or Vincey McSatan, there's only so much McMahon I can tolerate at any given time.

But Shane transcended that. He stopped being a McMahon and became a WWE superstar.

For old times sake I'm going to pop in Shane vs. Kurt Angle from King of the Ring, arguably his best, most brutal match.

There isn't a chance in hell Linda is going to win for Senate as a Republican given the WWE on her resume as well as all the legal and moral scandals that have rocked her organization and Vince.

Well, she's outspending Chris Dodd (the incumbent, and a significant US Senator for many years now), and she's been held in very high regard by the CT education system for some years now (which is why she's been more silent in recent years on the wrestling front).

Meanwhile, Chris Dodd has had his hands, feet, waist and upper torso involved in this financial mess over the last 2 years (not to mention a Countrywide mortgage scandal he was personally involved in, which he was cleared of.....). But if the economy is still in the crapper next year, McMahon can spin this real ugly against him.

I have always been a big Shane mark, and i am sad he is leaving WWE, but at the same time he is no longer the young youthful kid from 10 years ago. I wish him well.

Default He has had

some of the best Holy Shit moments in the history of WWE. But yeah he is a little old to be crashing through giant panes of glass and tables.

Like someone said above, Shane transcended being a McMahon in the eyes of many, myself included. He seemed to have lost a step the last time he was on tv, but that can't be held against him since he was never a regular performer. Anyway, I can't honestly say that I'll "miss" him since he hasn't been on in a while anyway, but I do hope that his departure is not a sign of some sort of huge internal problem within WWE.

I hope it is, to be honest.

Being head of Global, your eyes are open to many different thing and venues. There have been signs of ideals clash between Vinny and Shane. If I were to speculate the worst, I'd say it was the compounded failures of trying to copy the marketing end of MMA, bookended with the failure to make ECW a true entity, the failure of not buying PRIDE and the low numbers Wrestlemania 24 made with Mayweather as special guest.

But if I'm a betting man, he probably is resigning to help his wife with her movie company.

I think Shane will remain around the WWE but not actually in it.

If he has involvements with movie companies and suchlike then he could cross paths with WWE again.

Shane would still inherit a share of the WWE when his parents are gone.

I don't think Stephanie and Triple H could run the company on their own as we would probably have to watch Triple H win his 114th WWE title against a fifth generation Orton in 40 years time with Zombie Hulk Hogan as referee.
