Default X-Men vs The New, Dark, Mighty Avengers & Fantastic Four

The X-Men's line-up has been bolstered dramatically recently, and looks to be getting another serious boost in power with the addition of Magneto as a possible member.

So I'm wondering now: Are the X-Men now the most powerful team on the planet?

To find out, I'm going to ask what you guys think in these two scenarios:

1) Team vs Team Battle

Both teams have their current power-levels, weapons and equipment.

No prep-time. Battle takes place on Utopia Island (or whatever it's called these days).

This was meant for the rumbles board. And having any rumble with Sentry in it these days gets an instant "SPEED BLITZ, SENTRY WINS!" response, so I left him out as he tips the scales too heavyly in favour of the Avengers/FF.

For me Magneto tips the balance. like Sentry would have.

So X-men win.

I think Magneto could find a way to take Sentry.

There wouldn't even be a fight.

Avengers have a long history of having feck all telepaths / telepathic immunity.

In all reality, Emma, Psylocke and Charles would just shut most of them down... even Sentry would be taken out no problem... then the last few who have some kind of immunity would be destroyed by all the X-Men.

The Sentry isn't part of this fight.

Neither is Charles. And Emma is in her diamond form only, as she is currently stuck in.

So really, all the X-Men have in terms of telepaths is Psylocke for this battle. And while she's good enough too handle maybe a handful of people at a time, I doubt she could tap into everyones mind and have an effect on the outcome. While she is taking out 3-4 of the Avengers, she gets nailed by one of the more powerful members.

She'd be more effective stalking the halls of the base, lurking in the shadows with her ninja skills and taking out people that way.

Not when you have to exclude a member of the other team to make it a fight, no.

The Sentry is pretty much a deus ex machina in just about any rumble he's involved in on here.

But your right. He'd tip the scales in favour of the Avengers. Big time.

If he wasn't such a nutcase, he'd make just about every team on Earth obsolete. Between himself and Cloc, he's got the world covered.

It's possible he could solo every hero and villain on Earth. Which is just stupid, IMO. He needs to be powered down severely. At least to Superman levels.

Meh. Classic Doctor Strange could solo the planet, and he was just fine until Bendis got ahold of him and decided he needed to fix what wasn't broken.

There's various people like that floating around Marvel Earth every decade of comics really.

Back when the Silver Surfer was stuck on Earth, he tended to be portrayed as es mas macho than everyone that didn't invoke some prep on him. He was the FF's personal deus ex machina when things got too serious for them (he was their literal save from on high once or twice), but otherwise floated around the planet, whining up a storm about life and humanity and so forth.

Marvel does this sort of thing every so often, in retrospect.

What are your thoughts on the one on one battles?

Here's my take on the one on one fights:

Cyclops vs Captain America: Cyclops could do his "get of my lawn" blast, which should do the trick. I doubt Cap's shield is going to block the entire blast, but if Scott goes for ordinary blasts, Cap can block and possibly score a hit with with the shield if he's quick enough.

Magneto vs Iron Patriot: If Osborn's armour is non-magnetic, like Iron Man's armour, then Mags can wrap in a force-field and squash him flat. Or smash him with a massive chunk of metal, like a building on the island or something. Mag's has 100's of ways to fuck him up.

Emma vs Moonstone: Emma can match Moonstone strength for strength, and would be immune to her blasts, but not the phasing, I think. And Emma can really do anything offensively to Karla when she's airbourne and intangible. My money is on Moonstone.

Beast vs Wasp: Pym's got a lot of tricks up his sleeve in his new get-up, including his Giant-Man and Ant-Man powers, as well as his Wasp stinger-blasts, so I think he'd eventually get a hold of Beast, but it won't be easy with Beast's agility and strength. But once he tags Beast with a few wasp-stings and a Giant-Man punch, Beast is going down.

Wolverine vs Ares: Brutal fight, but I think Ares would take it. Comparible fighting skill, but a massive strength advantage. Ares would be cut by Logan's claws, but I don't think he'd kill Ares before Ares fucks him up with his axe.

Psylocke vs Iron Fist: Physically, Iron Fist would take this fight. Superior speed, strength and skill, as well as his uber-Iron Fist powers would ensure a win here. But Psylocke's telepathy would trump all that before they ever came to blows.

Rogue vs Black Widow: Widow is taking this with a couple of Widow-blasts before Rogue can get near her to drain her.

Colossus vs Thing: This would go for a long time. Ben's a better fighter, but Pete is stronger and more durable. Still, after a long fight, I see Ben taking this one, barely.

Nightcrawler vs Spider-Man: Spidey uses his spider-sense to predict where Kurt is going to teleport in, and when he does, a simple back hand would be enough to KO him.

Iceman vs Human Torch: Tough one. Iceman could probably flash freeze Johnny's molecules before he went nova. It's the only way I can see this not being a stalemate.

Storm vs Ms Marvel: Carol should be able to pull out a win here. One direct blast would take Storm out, whereas Carol could probably shrug off a few lightning bolts, hurricane winds or hail storms.

Namor vs Hercules: I'm leaning toward Hercules here. Namor's got the aerial advantage, but he's got to get in close to attack Hercules, and as the fight went on, and if Herc could keep Namor from getting into the water, Herc should evetually wear Namor down. This fight could go for a long time, though, as Namor could get airbourne and retreat to the sea for a recharge, and being as how they are on an island for this fight, it shouldn't be too hard to do that. But still, I don't see Herc getting beaten down in a hurry. 50/50.

Cloak vs Vision: Probably Vision, as he could phase into the ground, wait for Cloak to show himself, then solar blast him from behind, or sneak up and phase a fist into him. I'm not sure if Cloak's cloak could ensnare an intangible being, but if he could, then he could get a win via ring out.

Dagger vs Ronin: Quick draw contest, but I think Ronin's got the agility to avoid a light dagger and return fire with an arrow or shuriken.

Archangel vs Noh-Varr: Warren gets airbourne and rains down flachettes, which Noh-Varr avoids as best as he could, and returns fire with his blaster, but unless Warren does something stupid and tries to take the fight to Noh-Varr on the ground, where NV will use his White Run and nailbombs, then Warren should eventually land enough flachettes to take him down.

Warpath vs Luke Cage: If it was hand to hand, it would be pretty even, but James is sporting vibranium knives, which could possibly cut Luke's skin. I'm not sure on that 100%, so it could actually come down to hand to hand. I think James is faster and stronger, so he should take a hard fought win here.

X-23 vs Daken: It would be a bloody fight, but I think Laura's adamantium claws would lop off some limbs and Daken wouldn't be able to heal fast enough to avoid a 10-count.

Domino vs Mockingbird: Both are about even in terms of skill, but Domino has her luck powers going for her, so she'd pull a win eventually via some mishap/gun-jam or whatever happening to Bobbi.

Rockslide vs Venom: Venom's stronger, faster and more agile, plus has webbing to tangle Rockslide up while he starts breaking chunks off. Venom would leave Rockslide in pieces, then web up the debri so it can't reform.

Sunspot vs USAgent: Sunspot gets airborne and lays down the heat, while Walker blocks with his shield, which in turn frees up Sunspot to fly in at speed and crash tackle Walker into the dirt. Then its a one sided beat down as Sunspot uses his superior strength to pummel Walker into paste.

Cannonball vs Wonderman: I see this fight going similar to the Cannonball/Gladiator fight, where Simon wails on Sam uslessly against Sam's kinetic field, and Sam absorbs the power of the blows into his blastfield and returns it full force into Simon. Might not KO him, but it would definetly soften him up for repeated attacks, and Simon can't really hurt, nor catch Sam when he's got his blast field up.

Pixie vs Invisible Woman: Sue stomps here. She turns invisible, then force-squashes Pixie into the ground. Fight over.

Gambit vs Bullseye: Double KO, most likely. Both fire off their repsective projectiles, with Gambit's card blowing Bulleye to bits, and Bullseye's projectile stabbing Gambit in the throat.

Northstar vs Quicksilver: NS can fly, so has more of an advantage in combat. Both are similar in speed, IIRC, or there isn't much seperating them, so it comes down to NS being able to fly and attack from above. Slight edge to NS here.

Danger vs Jocasta: Danger is far more powerful and versatile. Jocasta would be destroyed in seconds.

Surge vs Spider-Woman: Surge frys Jessica, then speed-blitzes her arse.

Warlock vs Mr Fantastic: Reed is up against a superior shapeshifter here, and without any of his gadgets here to back him up, he's going to get creamed.

Magma vs She-Hulk: Magma can unload everything she has at Jennifer, but it won't do her any good. Jen will shrug it all off and one-punch KO her.

Mirage vs Stature: Mirage with her Valkyrie powers owned Ares, so I'm pretty sure she'd take out Stature before she got stomped on.

Karma vs Amadeus Cho: Cho would be smart enough to see through her illusions, or fight of her possesion, and I dunno, throw a rock at her. If not, then Karma gets to be the 7th smartest person on the planet for a while.
